got the terk xm commander at sound advice. initially i wanted to go w/ sirius, but they didn't have any receive small enough to install where i wanted it. so far it's been great, i'm still figuring out which stations i like.

mini review: i'm extremely happy with everything, except for one detail. the installer placed the antenna inside the car on the dash, while the instructions suggested that it be mounted on the roof of the car. in some areas i'll get 1-2 seconds of static, probably because the line of sight isn't optimal.

the receiver has a great feature called tuneselect, where you can store a song that's currently playing into memory (up to 15 songs) and whenever a song in memory is played on any station, the receiver notifies you w/ a beep, and you have about 10 seconds to switch stations.

i wanted on unobtrusive installation. i like the results:

installed
hidden
backlight
antenna

 thumbsup to the xm commander

Nice installation, what kind of car is it?

Too bad there is no red/orange backlight for the unit.

I have been considering XM radio, my sister swears by it, she got it for Mothers Day. Since I mainly listen to talk radio I think the reception would beat regular AM by miles and miles. On music I like all kinds so a good selection would be a must.

The only reason I balk is I hate making payments on stuff like that. Can you pre-pay XM on an annual basis?

i think he was joking :p

and yes, i wish the backlight were red. i might get creative later on and solder some red led's in place of the blue. it'll probably be difficult matching it up exactly though.

$9.99, and the unit is permanent, unless you want to go ahead with some major modifications.
