LOL, so nice. But seriously dude, you got lucky that AMEX caught this. You could of gotten FVCKED.

I know it's not nice but how can you be so careless? If you leave $8,500 cash unattended, wouldn't you be called an idiot? Obviously his AMEX limit was AT LEAST that high and as such he should guard it with his life, not lose it at a club and get drunk. So so stupid.

Is AMEX different than the other major CC issuers (Visa, Mastercard, Discover)?
Isn't the limit on most of them $50 for which the cardholder is responsible if the card is stolen?

Yeah, but that's still pretty careless - when you report your credit card stolen, the money doesn't just magically appear, someone is losing money on the deal. In this case they caught the guy so hopefully they'll be able to get the money out of him, but if they had not found him it's unfortunate that kermalou would not be responsible for the charges, because it's entirely his fault.

No argument there, but I thought that the CC company ate the charges after $50.

A champagne room is so expensive? What the hell? Can't you just cruise around the red district and pick someone up for way cheaper?

You deserve it for getting trashed and forgetting your card. Maybe you should act more like an adult and less like a frat boy.

maybe you should step off your soap box.

Yeah they do, but like I said, the money doesn't just magically appear. Either the credit card company or the business that accepted the credit card loses money. It's unfortunate that people have no sense of personal responsibility when it comes to this because they don't see any problem with faceless corporations taking the hit for someone's drunken stupidity.

clubs in LA are like that......Bottles run about 300 - 400 dollars.

Why the hell would you go to a club that costs 300-400 dollars a bottle? So that you can feel like you are upper class?

You're an idiot

Who says management was not aware of it?

Ever heard of the recent scandals surrounding the Gold Club and Scores Strip Club? The entire staff was trained to shower patrons with attention, get them drunk, then bilk them for thousands of dollars. One guy woke up the next morning and had spent $28,000 he couldn't account for.

I thought the business (the club in this case) loses the money.

not that I am defending him or anything, but bottles can cost that much or more at almost any bar or club in a big city (espcially if you order a bottle of blue label or louis XIV vsop or somesuch).

I think his point was more that it's absurd to spend $300-400 on a bottle of champagne at a club, and that it's most likely not millionaires spending that money, it's people who want to feel like they're upper class.

Damn when I kicked it with some friends down in LA, we ended up spending a total of 800 bucks that night. Buying bottles and food and having the waitresses feed us... it was kinda cool. hehe.
