Got the wisdom teeth pulled earlier this morning. So far, seems to be fine. I don't even have to down so much as a Tylennol. But, I do want to get proper nutrition for the next day or two while on this liquid diet.

Right now I drank an orange smoothie but my meal replacement stuff is this thing called Ensure. I don't feel like getting the runs by being on a liquid diet so I was hoping you guys could help me.

Grrr... I'm going to tear them out withing the year; one has an unfixed cavity, and one is impacted causing me to constantly bite my cheek. Do they fill the holes where the roots once stood or is it a "nutritional" pouch? Know someone who has crap stuck in them.

Didn't fill mine. Just had to deal with the bleeding for a few hours and it'll heal.

Why not eat regular food? A liquid diet is one of the most horrible experiences ever (well, I had to do it for a little over two months, so I guess I'm just bitter).

If it really hurts, just stick to soft foods, especially soups and stews.

You should definitely NOT eat really solid foods, even if you're feeling fine. You're going to break the wounds back open and bleed a ton.

I had mine pulled, none were impacted.. It was really quick, but I seemed to bleed more than I ever have. I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my mom to get back from the pharmacy with pain meds, and I ended up bleeding everywhere without realizing it (It's hard when you can't see your own face). Anyway, I bled for almost 24 hours, despite packing it with a ton of gauze and not eating anything.

By the time I stopped bleeding I went right into semi-solids, because I was damn hungry. :) I started off with potatoes.

You should try potatoes, they're about the softest food I can think of.

Damn, every time someone posts a wisdom tooth pulling thread, no one seems to of eaten mashed potatoes after they had theirs pulled. Mashed Potatoes was my MAIN meal for a week after I had mine pulled. It's as close to real food as you can get :p

Let me add a big one to your don't list: don't suck on anything.

No straws, cigarettes, etc.

Make sure you keep the holes where the teeth were irrigated so that food particles don't get trapped there. If you weren't given one stop by a drug store and get a Monoject 412 syringe. It has a curved plastic end to make it easier to squirt water where the teeth were.

Hopefully you're a fast healer. I had one wisdom tooth pulled last month and it bled for a few hours straight.

I stuck with Campbells soups, yogurt w/ granola, fruit smoothies, bread, and water for the 24 hours after surgery.

Milk in the daytime, beer at night. I got my wisdom teeth out 20 years ago, and that diet has kept me from having problems with it ever since.

Personally I'd stay away from granola as you don't want any fragments getting stuck in your sockets.
