got two different AMD 2000XP, green and brown, what's the difference. EDIT, WITH PICTURE

green markings..
AX2000DMT3C
AGOIA0208EP8W
Y7845730065

brownish markings
AX2000DMT3C
AROIA0216VPMW
9829203149

so is the AGOIA Y better then the AROIA? or visa versa?

EDIT here's a picture (55kb) here

Awfully strange, your AGOIA is a week 8, and green, and your AROIA is week 16, but brown.

The Green packaging usually on the newer cores, and brown packaging is on the older ones, yet your AROIA is newer...

Anyway, I'd probally say your AGOIA-Y is pretty much guaranteed to be good, AROIA-9 is a maybe (havn't heard too much about an AROIA-9).

I currently run an XP1600+ AROIA-Y @ 1.9 ghz.

I think what he meant is the color of the core and not the whole CPU. Both the AROIA and AGOIA should be in the new 'environmental friendly' green CPU.

Oh.😱

I received two week 13 AGOIA Y 1600+ processors from Newegg that are brown. I have not had the time to test them yet.

THis is very very weird. Hmmm.......

I ordered 2 just like GtPrOjEcTX and got the same exact thing. Green AGOIA and Brown AROIA.

Where are you guys getting the dating? Also, what's with this AGOIA-Y designation? Mine doesn't have a Y after the AGOIA.

Sal

The Y will be directly below the stepping starting the 3rd line. The date is the 4 digits after the stepping E.G. AGOIA 0212 02=2002 and 12=week12

Generally a CPU with a Y on the 3rd line is a better overclocker and those with a 9. And I think AGOIA is a better core anyway.

As far as the color, I really don't think it matters much.
