For anyone that wants to save a buck or two over the 4600 models,
the 4400 o/c's to 300/600 with no problems.

Gave me a score of 11190 on 3dmark stock

The heatsink fan is actually quieter than the one on my old visiontek ti200.
Visual quality is better in games.
Doesn't come with any games, but some 3dglasses that I'll probably never use.
One dvi, one analog connection.

All in all a decent card that you can get for around $260-$275
UPDATE- FINAL EDIT- 315core/ 660memory stable.
315/660 results
The memory ran all the way up to 675 but there were artifacts at that speed.
Not bad considering there's no heatsinks on the memory.

<< Sweet, that looks like a good card. I wonder what the max that people are overclocking the Ti4400? >>

That's what I want to know also. Was hoping for 650 memory (4600 speed). I'd really like to get this card for under $240. I missed the Gateway deal. :|

I am going to wait for the gainward ti4400 to become available at a reputable .com store. I think they are at BB only right now.

Just ran 3dmark a couple of more times at 620 for the memory

3dmark is now 11324.

I'll move up by 5Mhz increments until it locks up and then back of a few.

Why the Gainward? It different than the others?

I have the same card.... It cannot be working right. My GF2 GTS performs tons better. I get 25fps in UT since the upgrade.. What drivers are you using? I cant imagine the CPU is that much better? I even reformatted to a fresh install, followed the install instructions to a "T" and still no performance. I saw a glimer of hope when I ran UT in OpenGL I got a whopping 75fps on a game where I would commonly see 100+ on the GF2... I have been running the same settings to compare (16-bit color 1024x768) even though the card runs just as bad at 16 or 32 bit color. I have on/offed AA and still no luck...anybody got any ideas? The drivers I am currently running are 2770, guess they are the newest leaked drivers.

I am running win98se/DX8.1
1GHz P3
394MB PC133 Cas2 Crucial
ASUS P3V4X AP133a
60GB HDD

:disgust:

Final stable overclock is 315/660.
315/660

Which leads me to believe that all the 4400's are using the same core as the 4600's
Just the memory is different.

Cyknus: I think the 27.xx drivers are windows 2000/XP only - I couldn't find the Win9x versions. Try downgrading to the 21.83 drivers, as they have worked well for me.

<< Very nice dug. Just gotta hold out a bit longer. You are making it hard >>

Yeah its hard to wait. After getting my Bestbuy AND Gateway orders cancelled, I couldn't wait any longer.
I wanted to wait for the Gainward 4400 but after testing this card I don't see any reason to.
I think everybody is using the same core's and memory anyway.

Dug, both you and John have made that Gainward comment now, what's the deal? I've always been partial to Visiontek and never had a Gainward. Just an affiliation thing like people have with Asus? What's the scoop?

Supposedly Gainward spends a little more time making their cards, and they usually o/c better than the others.
Or in the case of the the 4600 they add dual dvi output and nobody else does.

But it looks like these first batches of cards are all using the same core and memory, therefore they should all o/c about the same.

I saw a post earlier from someone that had the Gainward 4600 and the core and mem didn't o/c any more than Visiontek or MSI or PNY.

I think it will be a while before we see an ultra version of these cards coming out. So I personally would stick with whatever is cheapest.

Damn you Dug. Every place was out of stock today and last night. I couldn't wait anymore so drove an hour and a half to Circuit City and grabbed (can PM with my Blue later).

10163 in 3dmark2001se out of the box. Haven't done any overclocking yet. Spiffy little card so far. Will have to give the glasses a whirl.

LMK how those glasses work.
BTW- I've read 3 reviews on the Gainward 4400, and none of them could o/c as high.

I can only get the bastards to work in 640x480x32x60hz

Gotta read the manual I guess 🙁

I got the little medical test and the demo to work and it was actually pretty freakin cool. Just wish I could get it to work in a game. I can get the screen to work right in the game, but the glasses don't turn on. Just gotta figure it out. There is a list of games that work best with it, operation flashpoint got a 1 for quality and a 1 for compatibility (1=excellent, 5=worst) so im really wanting to get this working. It says a minimum of 100hz is recommended for the refresh. I'm just trying to do 75 or 80 or so at 1600x1200x32 (or 16). Just haven't figured it out yet and was too tired to try anymore. I guess I could have waited to answer until I got them working...
