Meh. I didnt' actually apply to Caltech but I did get the dreaded small envelope from MIT. Screw them anyways, I know that even if I worked my balls off my entire life and was a female Native American/African American mix there would still be a good chance of not getting in. The letter irked me because it says "All decisions are final." Like I'm going to call them up and beg them to let me in.

Anyways, now I'm praying for Northwestern to accept me and if not, hopefully Carnegie Mellon will. Thinking about Chemical Engineering, by the way.

9/10

The undergraduate institution doesn't matter as much... should've applied to more state universities. Graduate education is another story.

According to US News and World Report, University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin, University of Texas, UC Santa Barbara, University of Delaware, and University of Illinois are all in the top 10 for chemical engineering. Carnegie Mellon and Northwestern are not.

Parody?

Yeah... I'm thinking it's real since it sounds too believable. But It's too similar to that other kid's thread. Therefor it must be a parody?

Yes it was a badly done parody, but I really did get rejected from MIT. People told me I had a shot with my SAT grades so I just considered it like a lottery ticket. My dad did say, ?You gotta be in it to win it.?

ehhh forget mit cheer up. there are many other good schools out there

i believe all the UC decisions should be out now? the only one left is cal i think?

*sigh* kids these days

Unlike you, I limited the number colleges I applied to to the number of fingers I have. I envy you Californians for actually having a shot at the University of California schools. Maybe USC will come through for me..

Why bother with state schools? If you don?t live in that state you still get raped by the tuition, and you have to live in a crappy campus with tons of idiots. I?m not saying this is true in all cases, but state schools just don?t appeal to me. The only one I would have liked to applied at was Urbana Champaign but it was too late by the time I found out how good it was.

..first time I have ever pulled a "reply to every damn question in the thread"

 for not caring. well not really, you posted because you obviously do care :p

but its not the end of the world. undergraduate studies is for learning fundamentals and making professional contacts. you can learn the fundamentals anywhere, and if u apply yourself enough you will make the necessary professional contacts!

Yay, an AT MIT rejection group to join. Didn't apply to caltech though. But I'm currently a candidate at Olin College, which I'm hoping works out in the next week or so (full tuition scholarship for all who get in). If not, CMU or UIUC, here I come.
