Are you kidding me? $100 for SIX miles over the speed limit? I was going 93 in a 65 in NY and the fine was only $150. That is the very definition of bullsh!t.

i didn't figure it was on a highway. that would really suck to get pulled over for such a negligible infraction on an interstate. Sorry to hear about that, thats really unfortunate

Bah, sorry but I'm not sympathetic. Try getting pulled over for doing 75 in a 70 and having the officer actually hand you a ticket for it. $75. It was ridiculous.

They dont accept cash... probably for that specific reason. I think I'll charge it just so I get hte 1.5% cash back, and to let them wait a month until they get my money.

6mph over? Was it a school-zone? That's the only I could imagine actually being pulled over and then ticketed for such a small amount over the limit.

Edit: Oh...saw you were in front of a mall in a 40mph zone.

Heck, just go to traffic court on the date listed and odds are the judge will just dismiss the case. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

All the more reason to be sympathetic.

Here in FL we have this place called the Traffic Clinic, phone number is (800) Citation - I've used them for every speeding ticket I've ever had and everytime they get me off with no points and I pay less than the cost of the ticket. They guarantee no points on your license.

You could always give them a call and see if they can do anything for you.

Perhaps. I would fight it if I were you however I don't think you'll have much of a chance. I wasn't able to fight mine because I got the ticket about 3.5 hours from where I go to school. That was frustrating since I'm pretty sure I could have beat the ticket. Sorry to hear about it though.

You're going to fight it right?

That's ridiculous.

Reminds me of when cop picked me out of a full Interstate and wrote me up for 74 in a 55 and I was going less than 60 in the heavy traffic.

Most people mail the money in so they typically refuse cash. I'm not sure about if you were to take it in.

Better yet, dispute the charge with your CC company ;)

Out of curiousity, do you live anywhere near Clearwater? That's where I got my ticket.

newp, I'm suburbs of the west side of Detroit. I think they camped out in front of the mall, because mainly yuppies shop there, and well, they have money :) I've just never heard of 5 cars setting up a speed trap. They musta been hiding like charlies in the rice paddies & such, because I only saw 2 cop cars, and 1 pulled me over.

You can still get the court to lower the ticket to 5mpg. The radar guns aren't accurate to the point where they can tell the speed with 1mph accuracy. Plus chances are you won't get a judge who's equally anal...

Ya know, I wouldn't have even minded, as long as the cop did the 'meow' thing from super troopers...

-"meow, do you know how fast you were going?"
"did you just say meow?"
-"did I say meow? Do you see me licking milk from a saucer? do I look like I jump from tree to tree all 'willy nilly'?"

:D
