Pink Eye is any, and I do mean any, condition that causes inflammation in the eye, including allergic reactions and somebody smacking you in the face, usually accompanied by redness. It is not anything to go to an emergency room for, unless you have severe pain. Usually not something to go to a doctor for either, but if you do, see an opthalmologist. Don't waste your time with an optometrist or a general practitioner(unless you need to see your regular doctor first due to insurance considerations). The opthalmologist will give you eye drops to reduce the inflammation, and he may give you something to deal with a bacterial of viral infection. What treatment did your girlfriend receive?

She got Fusidic Acid from a GP.

I have been washing my hands like a religion and not touching my face. If I'm forced to scratch my eyes, I use a Kleenex, separate side for each eye (folded so the liquid doesn't seep through) and throw it out when I'm done.

Safe to say it's a bacterial infection. That sucks.

I realized what I'm going to do about sanitizing stuff: Just put anything I can into the freezer overnight. TV Remotes, glasses, etc. Obviously not my laptop or cell phone, but most stuff should be just fine.

Some bacteria can survive freezing.

Against my wishes, my gf didn't go to the doc when she had pick eye this winter. She got over the counter drops for it at the local CVS, and it cleared right up.

That wont do much. Get Purel and use that on anything you want to disinfect.

Well, I've had pink eye for over a month now. The doctor thought it was allergenic pink eye, but the drops he prescribed only made the symptoms worse. No improvement at all.

A couple times it went away for 2-3 days, then came back in full force. This has to be the most irritating problem ever. It just won't fucking go away.

Now I have a Urinary Tract Infection I think for the last week or 10 days. I'm also developing a head cold and I feel like crap. fuck!

Hospital? Probably not. Usually it clears up. There should be some sort of general practitioner open in your area. Thats all you really need here.

Hospital is overkill. Go see an optometrist or physician.

Fixed. An optometrist is who you see for glasses. An ophthalmologist is a Doctor.

You should be seeing an ophthalmologist at this point for your eye condition. If the one you're seeing isn't producing results, find a different one. I was seeing the same doctor for eye problems for over a year with no improvement. His advice was that your condition takes a long time to correct if it can even be corrected. A sobering diagnosis. All the while, I'm dropping a hondo every time I see him.

Finally, the light bulb goes on in my head and I find a different Doctor. My problems were waning within two weeks and gone with 45 days.

Don't mess with your eyes.

But, now you're saying you've had a Urinary Tract Infection and it appears you haven't sought treatment. I can only wonder why someone would post their medical problems here instead of seeing a Doctor. Why would you?

Actually, I saw a doctor last Friday but the Urinalysis only came back yesterday. They were negative. Now I go to a doctor to explain the terrible pain I am having if its not a UTI.

I had pinkeye once. The ophthalmologist provided me with eye drops (probably that acid that was mentioned earlier) and the pinkeye went away. I wear contact lenses and stopped wearing contact lenses until after the pinkeye went away. The pinkeye returned a week after I resumed wearing my contact lenses.

It turned out that mold was growing on my contact lens case and this reinfected me. I used an old toothbrush to scrub the contact lens case, then cleansed the case in boiling water.

Something is causing your infection. You need to find and remove the cause of your infection so it does not return after treatment.

For the UTI, drink a lot of natural cranberry juice and take cranberry pills on a regular basis.
