Figured Id post my Wheat Penny Collection for you all.

Found my collections of mis struck 1957 pennies.

To the best I can find, I have the largest collection of the messed up 57's, and there isnt much I can find about these out there. I got these from my mother in law, who has had them for who knows how long, with about 30-35 other wheat pennies in a jar she gave to me for Christmas one year.

In case most of you have never seen or heard of a Wheat penny, or seen quite as many in one big pile :)

Wanna buy a penny? Its a Dollar, JKING, dont think Id ever sell off my Pennies, I like to pull out my pennies and just put them on the table and look at them, this time I took some shots for cleaning up that many pennies, depending on where I dumped them out at, can be a pain to pick back up. im sure I have some in there worth a lot, for the most part, Id say a good 80% or so are almost like new, with all the details of the design on them crisp and clean.

And then I got a set of them not pictured, about 10-12 of them all from one year that have been struck wrong, where the some of the 9's in the 1957, and all of the b's in Liberty, is filled in from a misstruck in the same place on every single one. I cant remember where the hell I put them though, the joys of my condition, but if they show up I will take pics of them too, if anyone cares to see them.

Thats a huge no no and can land me in the Fed Pen for doing so ;)

I forgot about the Indian Head ones, dont have one of them either. I been collecting on and off over all my years, but would end up selling most of what I have to make bills or ends meet, even at one point had some paper money too from the early 1900's, but its all almost gone but my Pennies, and some of my coins from around 38ad-500ad coins.

Found my set of 1957's, posting them soon to show the mess ups on them, and to the best I know, I have the largest collection of 1957 pennies with the same messed up die strike on them, for this is not a well known mess up from what I can find on google or yahoo as of yet, so these may be worth a ton of money to the right collector if I decided to part with them, it have to be a lot of money though.

I have a zip lock bag full of these pennies too, these pennies are still very common in circulation and they are barely worth anything over a cent. The misstruck can be worth something though, but I have doubt the story a little since it's rare to find one let alone 10.

Yeah. My guess would be that each is worth around 1/100 of a dollar.

Well, they're made of copper, so they're worth more than that, though as funboy said, the Treasury Dept. frowns on melting down currency for the metal.

But really wouldn't be that hard to do would it?

Technically you're right. They're worth a whopping 1.00238 cents each if you melt them down as of today's metal prices. However, I stand by my original statement.

haha, good point. I thought copper was more expensive than that, but maybe it came down in price.

ive got some of the '57's and i think some 55's and 56's that have other blobs fillled in some places. iirc i also have some that have a line between some letters in a place where there is no line on normal pennies, i also have a quarter from the 30's that has the front double struck, it looks like there is lettering under the lettering, offset alittle. i have an almost complete set of the wheat pennies. my collection has been in storage almost 10 years, i'll have to go dig them up and check them out. i found a 1905 nickel in the dirt while planting a garden a few years back.
