You drive 25mph in a 25 zone? My grandpa is honking at you to speed up (and he's dead).
Really??? in a 25 zone? Then you and your dead granddad can Fuck off. I'll slow down to a crawl, just to piss you off. With any luck, you'll fly off the handle like the hot-headed jerk you really are.
There's generally a reason for a 25 zone.... like a school. Until you and DeadGdad are paying my fines or bring a broken, run- over kid back to life, why don't you play nice, follow the rules? Rules don't apply to you, or you feel entitled to pick and choose the ones you agree with?
Either you go along with Society's dictums or you don't . If you don't then you're a sociopath. The degree of which is still under review.

Couldn't tell you off the top of my head, but big enough to prevent us from getting stuck. 4x4 would also help with that.

Why?

it is because cars calculate distance and speed in terms of tire rotations. if you have a bigger tire you have a greater distance that you are covering per tire rotation, and it could have be plausable that you were exceeding the speed on the dash.

The old "Oversized Tires/ Incorrect Speedometer Reading Defense".
Which basically says, my vehicle's speedometer is so out of calibration due to equipment modifications, the reading can't be trusted, so I shouldn't have to conform to posted limits.

Yeah that says "Epic Fail" in so many ways.....

The whole system is BS. It has nothing to do with safety it's all about revenue generation now. It's your duty as an american to fight all tickets, to throw a wrench into their corrupt system. Otherwise just bend over and take it like a man.
And try and delay everything for as long as possible-a lawyer told me that.

1. 80% of my traffic stops (which were legitimate stops that could have resulted in a ticket) have resulted in warnings.
2. People speed on highways all of the time. Stopping and ticketing any one of them would be easy, yet I see cops sitting in medians watching speeders drive by.

If it's all about generating revenue, they could be doing a much better job.

Doesn't mean the cops give a shit about the revenue values, after all, they aren't the ones who set the speed limits.

I've been pulled over a few times

1 - Not paying attention and ended up doing ~35-37 in a 20. Got a ticket for 44/20 which imo was bogus, no way my speedo was that far off

2 - Reckless driving ticket which was bogus. The cop said I was spinning my tires, but didn't understand that when you make a tight right turn, on gravel, in a powerful muscle car, the inside tire will spin pretty much always. I ended up getting it stricked from all records and no fine by doing 40hrs community service

3 - Pulled over for, as the cop said, "your exhaust is too loud" :| - no ticket

4 - Pulled over for "suspicious behavior" - Was driving around a neighborhood slowly looking for an address. My proof of insurance was no longer valid by about a month but he let me off

5 - Pulled over for ~5-6 over in a 65. Written warning

Because if the Jeep came stock with 31" tires and he's running 35's without a gear change / fixing the speedometer reading, 31mph indicated will be 35mph actual.

if you've got time, goto court.

in my experience (for speeding) I always got much better result when I went to court.

but then you would be missing at least half day of work .

damn pigs..

If this is in California, I believe pacing is not a legal means to determine rate of speed. However, OP clearly states he was going almost twice the speed limit, so he should still pay up.

In general, you're an idiot. A guy goes more than 2 times the speed limit and you claim that it's his duty as an American citizen to fight it. Ridiculous.

He admitted that he was driving well over the speed limit. He needs to pay the ticket and move on, no need to waste tax payer money to try and fight it.

In general, you're a douchebag. It's his right to fight any ticket if he thinks he is not guilty.
It's not wasting money, it's exercising his rights as an american. Why do you hate America?

I like how you keep changing your argument, first you said it's his duty to fight the ticket, now you say it's his right. I never said it wasn't his right, I said it wasn't his duty. First you should work on remembering your own argument, then move on to learning how to read what other people write.

Of course it's his right to fight the ticket, but there's no need to constantly exercise every single right that you have, especially when you know you're in the wrong. Man up and pay for your mistake, no need to waste taxpayer money. It's people like you and the OP that have turned this country into an overly litigious society, wasting God knows how much money and time every year.

OP, if I were you I'd go to court and plead guilty to get the points dropped and/or fine reduced. You're acting like a spoiled child though so I'd rather see you go and fight it in court, for the LULZ.

I and a friend of mine got ticketed once for trespassing. I paid mine (the tickets were only $70-80) but he went to court and fought his and lost. His basic defense was "We didn't see the sign" (that stated the hours of the park). He had pictures and some other stuff too, but that's what it boiled down to. Anyway, he was ordered to pay the fine, court costs and was fined something else too (that was brought to light by his pictures) and ended up having to pay over a thousand when it was all over with.

You could say that
You should print this thread out and mail it to the Beach Enforcement's office.

most people in marin are tree-hugging types...I think most would have a huge problem with someone doing double a 15mph limit. I like to speed, but I do so on the highway and will take it nice and easy in any 30mph or less zone.

This guy is probably a gardener or something staying in a spare room there.

Being paced (some people mistakingly refer to as clocked) is legal and used quite often in California.

Police in California(and most states) don't have to pace you or use a gun estimate speed. They're trained and tested on estimating speed with their eyes. She can say she saw you speeding and visually estimated it at 35 and her word is as good as a radar. She can say she was "pacing you" you to travel behind you with intent to stop at a safer speed than a full out chase. You have nothing to fall on and you're better off not trying to fight it.

Sweet, I'm trained to estimate speed with my eyes and I didn't even know it! This is fantastic news!

stopwatch and two known objects son. You can even use the old fashion 1-mississippi technique and know if they have blown a speed limit.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's lesson, rookie.

What you describe with the stopwatch is what I know as clocking. Police aircraft used to use this method. The one Mississippi method is pacing. Visual estimation is different and taught along with radar/lidar techniques IIRC.

thanks for the lesson. I wasn't describing anything but how someone can 'clock' or whatever you want to call it with just their eyes.
