Got offered a FREE One-Year Subscription to E-Week; any catches?

Hi all,

This morning, I received an email from Ziff Davis Media. They are offering me, "The IT Professional" 😎 a free one-year subscription b/c I'm a member of Cram Session (signed up online to help me study for the A+/Network+ tests).

I read thru the standard privacy policy crap and all that and there don't seem to be any catches. What worries me is that the application is four pages long! Most of the fields are mandatory and they ask a lot of info. Address of my work, phone numbers, etc.

I don't want to wind up w/telemarketer scum calling me at work.

The subscription is normally $195/year.

Any ideas here?

Well, I think you should decline the offer. That's b/c they don't ask you all that detailed personal info just for the heck of it, definately. It's the fact that they'll be spamming you forever with their crap using any means possible, I'm pretty sure about that.

Yeah, it dawned on me that they aren't asking all that info just for "demographic charting purposes."

I suppose you really can't get something for nothing these days.

AFA the strength of it's content goes, I've read it before...mostly advertisements, some articles, etc. It does look good lying on my desk, though. 😎 Kind of like boarding the train with The Wall Street Journal tucked under your arm.
