I terrorized myself for weeks leading up to the surgery by reading horror stories online. My experience was the same as yours except I had zero pain, nada, zilch. Never took a painkiller and the bleeding stopped the same day. They shot my jaw full of so much novacaine it didn't wear off for 24 hours. The worst part was having to worry about food getting into the sockets for the next two weeks (that and the hyper sensitivity to cold in the region.)

I had dry sockets in 2 of the 4 when I had them all removed at the same time. That was some serious pain.

Make sure you stay hydrated, one of the most important things you can do. It will make the pain almost non existant or down right unbearable.

Make sure to drink a concrete shake through a straw. It helps the gums recover.

I had pain, but it was tolerable. I didn't take any pain medication, since it was unnecessary.
