got my website design, want a OSCMAX template made out of it

my HTML is decent, my CSS is a work in progress, my dhtml/js/php is horrible horrible horrible. I have my web site lay out just how I want it. I installed OSCMAX today, and was going to xfer my layout into a template so the store I put up will look like the rest of my site. I got frustrated quick and decided I'd look into payign somebody to do it.

I chatted with one programmer/developer who said he'd do it for $900. Which seems sick, A 2nd said he's get back to me with a quote. The first also made it sound like it would be a royal pain to do it myself if I didn't know exactly what I was doing.

what should I look to drop on a project like this?

$900 does sound steep, how big is the project?

have no idea, I just wanted a store front that matched the rest of my site. From my understanding with OSCMAX you can make one template and have it universal for your cart. The graphics are done already, the 2 people I've spoke to about creating templates both carried on about how it's not an easy task for a beginner, but uh both also offered to "help" me if I wanted to pay them. The $900 guy said he typically would charge a site $1500 to create a complete web store front, but I told him I already had the graphics he would just have to fill in a template. He said "oh, well in that case only $900"

I'm sure I could do it myself, well with some preperation and learning involved. I'm not really sure I have the time to invest to learn it so it comes out right. I don't know what the going rate is for this kind of work, also I don't know the complexity level. I'm sure me saying "take my CSS and make 10 changes and volia the template is done!" is over simplifying it a bit haha. Hummm maybe I'll spend 15 minutes a day reading up on how to modify templates for oscmax, it might be easy enough for me to figure out in a week or so *shrug*

looked at the template stuff, lots and lots of PHP, I see a huge headache in my future if I try to do this on my one.

anyone on here who can do it and wants to work out a $$$ I'm ready to break out paypal and get this done. PM me. This should be monkey work somebody who knows OSCommerce & design.
