2006 Changes

Starting from the intake side, the diameter of the inlet pipe leading to the air resonator has been increased from 70mm to 80mm. The throttle body has been enlarged from 60mm to 64mm. These changes are said to be responsible for an intake airflow capacity, helping the motor gulp as much as 110 liters/second (up from 95 liters/second). To allow the motor to injest this extra 15 liters per second, the intake valves have been enlarged by 1mm (to 36mm). A revised high-rpm profile on the intake camshafts results in a 0.9mm increase in valve lift and 14 degrees of extra duration (opening 2 degrees sooner, and closing 12 degrees later). Obviously, if you're burning more air and fuel, you have to do something with the spent gases. So to deal with the added volume of exhaust, the head pipe (the pipe below the 4 primaries on the header) has been enlarged from 60mm to 65mm. The catalytic converter has been spec'ed up to a higher flow rate, and behind the cat, the remainder of the exhaust system has been enlarged by just under 3mm pretty much the entire way back. The changes to the exhaust system result in a reported increase in exhaust capacity from 115 liters/second to 125 liters/second.

I'd bash this post but I'm sure there are groups of people that would think the term rice burner was a racist term and not referring to a subset of small engine economy cars.

What are you talking about? I don't see any car in this thread that could possibly be referred to as rice. Rice would be the ghey-ass Civic/Eclipse/Neon that you see on a daily basis with the huge aluminum wing, coffee can muffler, and racing stickers...not a stock 4 cylinder Japanese car. ;)

I'll give you that. The rims and the drop had me thinking, then the honda civic post right after... lol

The TSX doesn't generate enough torque for that to be a real problem. Some people have noticed it in the TL, however.

The car is not dropped in the pics.

If I'm putting on springs, it will be a mild drop, not slammed.
I hate the look of rims tucked under the wheel well.

You might want to get new brake pads now..., at 18k my disk were wrapped.. I went back and they gave me new rotors for free about 2 weeks ago.. This is from the 2006 review.. a lot of tsx have the brake problem... I just order my new pads today..

http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?article_id=493583

It's Time to Rethink the Brake Pads
One item that has escaped Acura's attention is the TSX's brakes. We're going to be brutally honest: the stock brake pads are pretty bad. The feel is okay, but they provide somewhat weak stopping power and are prone to overheating easily (particularly when slowing from freeway speeds). When they overheat, they tend to leave deposits on the rotors, which can lead to a very noticeable and irritating brake shudder. Many people misdiagnose this problem as rotor warpage, but as we proved on our own car, it's really the stock pads chubbing the rotors. It only took a few thousand miles for this problem to appear on our TSX project car, and these were very gentle miles. While the symptoms felt almost exactly like rotor warpage, we decided to swap out the stock pads for some more aggressive aftermarket pads, and the results were simply astounding. Without any rotor resurfacing, the brake shudder and wobble disappeared almost immediately, and within a few days of normal driving, all of the OEM pad deposits were wiped clean from the rotors. To this day, there has been absolutely no brake shudder and brake fade is a thing of the past. Even more impressively, the car has benefitted from a tremendous improvement in braking power. The only downside to this pad upgrade is that the new pads will squeak in very rare circumstances and they generate appreciably more brake dust than the stock pads. Otherwise they are one of the biggest "bang for the buck" modifications out there for the TSX and we highly recommend it. We installed Axxis Ultimates on our TSX, but similar results are likely with any number of other aftermarket fitments.

That's a really well equiped car for the price. My parents just picked up a TL and I was amazed at how much you get standard. If the nav system is the same as the TL, then you will really appreciate it. My mom calls me ever couple days just to show off her blue tooth phone. The engine may be a little weak, but seriously, Honda would have to redo their line into a RWD/AWD configuration like the RL if they started putting larger engine in their cars. That would only drive the price up and most people wouldn't need the extra power to begin with.
