It's amazing what one bad component can do.
I had a Vortex II...Half-Life would lock up on load, and Quake 3 would lock up in a matter of minutes. Only UT was stable. Last week, I ordered an SB Live! value, since the sound quality in Win2K was pretty bad on my Vortex II. I honestly didn't think bad sound card driveers would have the power to lock everything up. Sure enough, I fired it up this morning, and CS/UT/Quake3 are stable for long periods of time.
The only thing that is not perfectly stable is that the 3DMark Demo Mode will crash to the desktop - but until this carries over into the Benchmark mode or when I use real games, I'm not going to worry about it.
