Got my second new car this year, 2008 Acura TL S type

Slew Foot

Lifer
Just picked up my second new card this year, repalcing both me and my wife's previous old cars.

This one is a 2008 Acura TL-S, Pearl White with Black/silver interior (apparently the last one in CA). Got for quite a deal, 32.5K+TTL, about 3K under invoice. Rides like a dream and the shifters are pretty fun to use. The voice controlled nav is neat as well. Ive been having fun playing with all the gadgets on this thing, Ill post pics later.

I would have been tempted to wait for the 2009 with the SH-AWD, but at that price, you definitely got a great deal for the car.

If the 09 werent ass ugly, Id have gone for it. But the 08 were starting to go fast especially at the current prices.

MSRP of 38.5, Invoice is around 35K.

Lots of dealer cash on these right now as they bring in the new 2009s with the new Acura designs.

Congrats!! We are enjoying ours a great deal!! We got ours in May and have been driving the hell out of it.

Jumpem those cars are luxury-less racers by comparison. The acura is slower but will be more comfortable; really they are seperate markets.

An STi is comfortable enough for me. Power windows, locks, a radio, and A/C is all I need. Leather is actually a huge negative for me. I have never cared for it.

While I agree with most everything Jumpem says (The seats in the STI are incredibly comfortable) I do agree that the way the suspension is tuned and the lack of sound deadening makes the STI a completely different beast than the Acura.

Unfortunately, you are only minority of the car-buying group. In $ 30k-40k market, buyers want not only performance, but also luxury and image. And that's why BMW 3-series, Lexus ES/IS, Cadillac CTS, MB C-class, Audi A4, Acura TL and Infiniti G are competing each other. More performance oriented models, like 350Z, STi, Evo, R32 or S2000, are in totally different market and much less sales than the ones in luxury market.

If you also remember the fact that for most of those models have AT as only choice, that's even more clear what the buyer wants. Heck, even the models with MT, MT is less than 10% of the sales for those models. I remeber that Acura seriously considered drop MT TSX as the sales of TSX with MT was like less than 5%, even all the magazines and reviews praised about its awesome performance and great match with i-VTEC.

Then why don't you make a separate thread about that then because I don't think anyone asked for your opinion.

I'd rather have a 6 carrot blue diamond for that price range but you don't hear me blabbering about it.

GREAT CAR. i'm so jealous. i'm stuck here with my 05 accord Ex v6. the tl-s is FWD right? or did it have SH-AWD?

LOL @ the guy who'd rather have an EVO, thats great... lol you're entitled to your own opinion. go make a new thread lol. This thread is for the guys who like a bit (or a ot) of luxury and high quality.

bump with pics added.

And yeah, the Lancer Evo type car is for the spoiled high school kid. This is more for the young professional adult who desires performance and luxury along with utility.

Looks great, and roughly 1,000 times better than the new one. Those 17" wheels look a little small on it, and the all-season tires are a bit of a disappointment, but I understand that they are more practical for non-performance driving in climates where you get a bit of bad weather but not a ton. Anyway, enjoy the sweet ride!
