Before I switched from my e6600 to my q9450 I did some some benchmarking to compare

Convert 30 Days of night dvd main movie

Dvd fab platinum
E6600 = 1:52:10 Q9450 = 1:28:09

Nero Recode (avc)
E6600 = 1:22:31 Q9450 = 45:56

Tmpg Express 4 (mpeg 4)
E6600 = 2:07:45 Q9450 = 1:04:18

multi tasking feels smoother and when dragging multiple files to another internal hard drive it doesnt take as long

Im happy i got a quad. once i read up on overclocking maybe ill try to take it from 2.66 to 3.0 but overclocking makes me nervous

i thought the 45nM quad cores used about 80 watts.

95 watts for the Q9450, says the spec at Intel.

but the 45 nM Quad Harpertown uses 80 watts

i thought the Yorkfields would use 80 watts also. guess not.
though that is spec, we'll see when AT does a measurement.

That's the heat output, not the electricity draw. Harpertown is also a different product, in a socket 771 server motherboard.

Why's that? I'm at 454 right now, and I've tested my board up to 467. People do this all the time; his only limitation will be whether he bought DDR2-667 RAM, or something that leaves him with some headroom.

So even though my board does 509 (tested) and my X3350 (Q9450) won't do over 447, you still maintain this ? What motherboard do you have ?

And thats with PC-8500, tha same board and memory that was tested at 509.
