Best buys till had the black friday bundle for $299 with
160gb PS3
LBP GOTY
Mod nation racers
Cars blu ray

Returned a Blackberry charger for $20 and picked up black ops while I was there for only $311 out the door since I got a $50 gift card for buying the PS3 bundle. Now I gotta look for a few games to play myself.

I've got black ops which I know will suck up most of my time, my daughter will play the LBP and MNR game. I am looking for at least 1 game that will take a really long time to beat. I am thinking of getting that GTA package that has GTA4 and all the extra content for $29.99 and maybe fallout new vegas.

I havent played PS3 since killzone came out so I am behind schedule a bit. WHat should I look into getting game wise? I'm gonna go shopping tomorrow after work and get a turtle beach headset for sure and at least 1 game maybe even 3 games LOL

not to be a dick, but there are literally dozens of threads on this same exact topic, some of which are currently on the first page on ATCG. just do a search and you will have all your answers.

I thought about lining up for this bundle on BF... good thing I'm a lazy ass and just stayed in bed.

Get Uncharted 1 and 2!

I am looking for games that take a long time to beat. Not asking if Call of duty or medal of honor is better LOL. The only game I can really think of that takes a long time to beat is fallout and GTA might take a while I don't know. That's why I asked for help so please bare with me. I've mainly ever played sports games and call of duty games but now I'd like to try to enjoy a good single player game that has a bunch of gameplay hours.

He doesn't mean the general game threads, he means there are threads that are exactly like yours in progress. Tons of "just bought/will get a PS3, what games etc..."

This one is in progress, and the answers won't be any different. This was also on the front page so really it's hard to miss 😛 We just prefer you do the research in the similar threads first. It's not a hard and fast rule per se, it just makes life easier for us. I can give you a run down of the type of responses you'll get:

-Uncharted
-God of War
-Demon's Souls
-use the search as there's plenty of threads on this
-why would you buy a console when you don't have games in mind?
... and so on

I got LBP for my daughter and the mod nation racer game for both of us, the black ops is for me I just want a game I can really sink some time into. I looked in that other thread and didn't see anything about I want a game that I can sink 30+ hours into.

He provided a list and asked what people thought. I really don't know what games are good and last a really long time. I'd rather ask you guys then look on google and maybe buy some turd game.

I heard MGS4 is alot of cutscenes and not alot of gameplay. Is that true? I loved the old MGS games, I like having to sneak around

I'll recommend Valkyria Chronicles, a strategy rpg. It's a mix of missions with cutscenes inbetween. I enjoyed it, though you may feel differently. Download the demo and give it a try.
As for length, I can't really remember how long it is. Here is an estimate of how long it might take you. A bonus is that it is relatively cheap; you should be able to find it for $20 at gamestop, and around $22 at Amazon.

Fallout 3, Demon Souls, MGS4, and GTA4 are cheap at around ~$15 each at Amazon.

Batman AA, Uncharted, and GOW 3 are slightly more expensive but great too.

are the ratchet and clank games kid friendly? Also are they adult fun too? I'd love to get something I can play with my daughter other then lbp and mod nation racers

I had them ring up the PS3 bundle and take the $20 off from my charger I returned. After I pad for the PS3 bundle They activated the $50 gift card right there then they rang up Black Ops.

So really I got black ops for $13

If you're pondering Fallout: New Vegas, you might as well buy Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition instead. I swear I put in about 80 hours on my first (only) playthrough of Fallout 3, didn't finish about four of the major quest lines, and didn't have any of the DLC (since I bought the vanilla Fallout 3 at release). If that doesn't qualify as "taking a long time" enough, I'm not sure what will.

Besides Demon's Souls, of course.

Yes, very freaing true. So many cutscenes that when I played I had no idea WTF was going on because I skipped the cutscenes. It was too annoying.

Uncharted 1 and 2 = awesome

Dang, that is nice. I'm guessing since Black Ops wasn't part of the bundle deal, they allowed you to use the GC right away since technically it was a "next purchase" kind of thing.

My favorite games with the kids are Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim.

Me my daughter (8) and son (5) have a blast doing co-op in those games.

Ratchet and Clank are very kid-friendly (think Looney Tunes style humor and violence). As a kid-free gamer, I can assure you that they're great games for all ages. The possible downside is that it's purely a single-player experience.

Maybe I missed this, but are you also looking for multiplat games? If so, even though I played it on the 360, Dragon Age Origins is an awesome game. If you get the Ultimate Edition it comes with all the DLC, and with the three different classes, you are looking at a lot of time in one game.
