Got my Plextor today!

Freakin Kenwood True X got on my last nerve! Doesn't read CD-R's half the time. Replaced it with a Plextor 40max😀 Life is good again. It just makes more sense to team up my scsi cd-r with a scsi cd-rom right?😀

welcome to the world of Plextor, once you enter you cannot leave.

The 40X isn't very loud is it? And have you tried to rip audio yet? Use Audiograbber and just run, it should do 19-44X DAE.

Not only that, but with both SCSI source and record drives, you should have no problems with using your system to do other things while you are "burning" at the same time.

I measured DAE at 27X. I wish I had a Plextor burner. I've got a Smart and Friendly 4x12, which is actually a Teac R55S. The Plex is any louder than the Kenwood was.

Hope you have better luck than I did with my Plextor!! I made 7 CD's on my Plextor before it broke. Plextor does make good stuff I just got a bad one. One bad thing about Plextor is the customer service--I was on hold 75 min. Then after getting through and going through all the steps to confirm that my drive was dead, they sent a 3 page RMA request form to me in "Microsoft Word" format to fill out. I had to type out everything that I just talked about on the phone with the tech guy. This was not a RMA#, just the form to ask for one! After that I had to e-mail that to someone else to see if I qualified for a RMA# (I guess the tech that I spoke to wasn't good enough). After that they sent a e-mail with a RMA# and a list of intructions 2 pages long! I have sent it back and am awaiting its return,- I just sent it 2 days ago. Even though Plextor drives are very good, they do break and the customer service is, IMHO, bad.

FOH--Lately, there have been several people in the forums that have had problems with hold times and the 40X. I was lucky to get a new ROM chip in 2 weeks for my 32x.

SCSI 40X and 12x4x32x. I burn with CloneCD or Nero, play D2 at the same time, get out, check email, back in D2. If I'm burning 4 backups, I don't even have to get out of D2.....just put a new blank in when the tray ejects.
