I got a p3 700 cbo stepping made in philipines but can only run it at 116 Bus @ 1.80 volts. I tired to got to 133 but no good then 124 bvus at 1.9 volts...still no good. then i got it to 116 bus at 1.80. I tried 118 bus but it wont go.

I have ASUS P3V4X, pc 133 RAM ( ALSO TRIeD THREE OTHER PC 100 STICKS)
Geforce 2 mx, sbl value,300 watt antec,3com 10/100 nic, linksys 10/100 nic.

what can I do to get more? I thought I was supposed to get somewhere around 900 with these chips?

You may have done this already, but maybe this will help.
In your BIIOS you have an option to run the BUS as well as your memory indepently.
IN other words, for example, your bus at 133 and your memory at 100.
If you are running them the same then that is the problem.
BTW you really need to run PC133 memory to get the most out of the P3V4X.
I wrote this page a while back , when I had a P3V4x. A couple of the links are incorrect now ( 4-1 drivers changed )but it will give you a good idea how to set up the BIOS.

Well you might have gotten a dud. I had a week 18 cBo that would not go past 805mhz no matter what I did. I gave up and sold the chip and stuck my 550e back in. It was not worth the extra money for me to only get 35 more mhz out of my system. My 550e does 770mhz with no problem. Sorry to here you are having problems but as you can see now, not all 700cBo chips overclock. What week was your chip?

Not all CB0 chips will overclock, they usually do nciely but just because it's CB0 is no guarantee. The only guarantee you have it that it will run at the rated clock speed. Looks like she just doesnt want to go any higher.

my cpu was stuck at around 850 with 1.85 volts until i bought an alpha pep66 and 38 cfm delta fan, that took me to the magical 1 ghz club

good thing that intel doesn't test all their chips to see if they can get 933 or else overclocking would be dead, and we would be screwed

Update
I origonaly had an alpha and globalwinfan on my p3. I took it off and put on a golden orb. Then I realixzed that the two blocked memory slots wernt blocked anymore with the gorb. I moved my pc133 ram to the number 1 memory slot and presto I booted into 124 megahertz bus.
Then I tried my seimens pc100 cas2 ram. Boom ! it went to 131 bus! 917 Mhz baby.
I cant beleive that my pc100 ram is better for overclocking then my ibm pc133 cas2 ram. And a monster alpha doesnt cool as well as a golden orb!

Supercooling is the only salvation here... i got one Cb0 700 that can only do around 900Mhz, now running @ 1GHz -10C...

no no no, you got it all wrong about the alpha, by what you described, I just think that your system has a problem running ram only in the 3rd dimm slot, This slot was the only one you could use with an alpha, but when you switched to golden orb, you had no problems since you moved your ram to the first dimm slot. Just for fun, just move your ram to the 3rd slot, but remember to downclock before moving since i'll be willing to bet you wont be able to overclock from the 3rd dimm slot.

I think you are right syborg. If I could use the alpha I proly would have even better results. I developed a technique for over clocking with p3v4x. I set bios for a certain speed until it doesnt boot, then I let it go into the screen that says press del for setup or f1 to continue. I reboot by ctrl-alt-del instead of turning off the power. The system then boots into the next speed range. By doing this I can get it to go to 131 bus at a safe 1.85 volts! If I just try to go the normal way , sometimes it wont let me go more then 124 bus. This technique works with my board anywqay. I also put a heatsink on my pll chip because it felt kind of hot. I also have a fan pointed at the pll and cpu drawing air from the intake fan up to the cpu/pll area. With this technique I dont have to slow down my ram to cas 3 or 3,2,2 or anything but cas 2,2,2,5. I dont know about anyone else, but if I slow down the ram to get even 150 Mhz more on my cpu I actually slow down my performance in quake3 demo2 by as much as 25 frames per second. I learned one thing, cas3 is a much bigger performance hit then I thought it would or some people would have you believe!
