I was out shopping around looking for something to spend some cash on today...noticed the pet store was having an adoption day. Earlier today I was looking at dogs in the classified ads and saw a few I liked. Right when I was about to leave the pet store(petsmart) they brought a miniature dachshund in! Thats like my favorite dog...so I adopted it for 90 bucks :) His name is Rocky...he's 1 year old, already nutered etc. Going to pick him up tomarrow. Pics inc when I get em ;);)

Got him today, great dog so far. Here's some pics I got(his color is ALOT darker IRL, sorry for the crappy images)

Oh man, I always wanted (and still do) a miniature dachshund. Just can't convince the old lady...

My fiance wants one of those too. We just aren't home often enough to take care of a dog though :(

I use to own a brown spotted dalmation, man I miss that insane dog. Dogs are great, they almost always run to you when you go outside or come home, kill unwanted rodents like gophers and opossums, guard your backyard from kids trying to climb over your fence. :D my dog was pretty nuts but a great dog. Have fun with your new dachshund :)

Dude, I've seen fat cats before and its disgusting/scary.

Cute dog! One of the very few small dogs that I can like. I love big dogs... I got a golden retriever.

Oh, for feeding puppies, feed them three times a day. My dalmatian went through about a cup per meal... until he grew up.

Since it's a small dog but also a young puppy, I would say 2 to 3 times a day would be plenty. Not sure exactly how much you should give each meal though. I know our dog (7yo ~60lb Boxer / Shar pei mix) gets fed twice a day (once in the morning, once around dinner time) and gets 1.5-2 cups of food per meal, so I would think for a 10lb dachshund maybe .5 to 1 cup per meal? Really not sure, should probably ask a vet / pet store / other qualified person.

I love big dogs too, our other dog looks like a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog & a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, but no one knows what she really is. They both seem to be getting along well so far.

Why do so many people need to make fun of 'weiner dogs?' :p I think there really cool.

Sweet. Love big dogs, too, and have always wanted a Bernese, but the whole short life span and cancer susceptibility (plus lack of availability) has kept me from getting one. Ended up "settling" for a female Pyrenees and she's the best dog I've ever had:)

Haha, my miniature dachshund (Norman, dob 7-4-1998) weighs 12 lbs and my cat Timmy weighs in at a robust 26 lbs. Norman chases that poor obese thing around all day and night. :)
