I've had a T-Mobile Nokia 3390 for about 13 months. A few weeks ago it started acting up. It seemed a connector to the display was loose, so I would be using my phone and the display would go out. This was undoubtably due to how many times I dropped it in a drunken state. In fact, the Nokias are my only phones becasue everything else I have isn't as durable. The problem got progressively worse, so I had to decide what I was going to do.

I was going to transfer carriers to Cingular, but I called T-Mobile to see what they would do for me. They offerred me a Nokia 6610 for $139 including shipping, but I would get my 6th month of service FREE, so it ended up being about $85 after you factor that in. I had to sign a one year contract - no problem.

I got the phone today. This is by far the most advanced phone I have ever seen, much less used. I didn't need a digicam one because I have a Minolta Dimage-X which is smaller and higher res anyways.

Damn, this little phone is pretty cool.

Does it make and receive calls, store phone numbers, and send and receive text messages? So does mine! It was free!

i've never paid for any of my phones.
I've always gotten my phones for free with a contract including the T720 when it was new.

Does your phone surf the net and have a high-res screen?

Doesn't need to - I have a PC for that!

It has features that are definitely nice. Like syncing my contacts, which are important. I hated always having to create different entries for 'home' 'cell' 'work' for the same person. Now I can store it and keep it more organized, thus eliminating any need to carry anything else with me if I need to get in touch with someone right then

Were you on already on T-Mobile, and had your T-Mobile contract already been fulfilled? This looks like it might be a pretty good phone for me and I'd like to weasel it out of them cheaper if I can. I actually prefer flip phones, but they've just gotten too fat lately. Why can't someone make a T28 sized flip any more? :(

I fail to see the point of these uber cell phones.

My kyocera 2235 isn't in color, doesn't have the bestest games, but it gets the job done...Battery life is about 5 days in standby. Its small, compact, and cheap!

Now unless you need the bestest games evar for cellphones, why buy a color cellphone w/ a high definition screen? And browsing t3h intarweb on a cellphone sux0rs.

was alrealdy on it. My contract ended the first week in June, when my Old 3390 started going out. I renewed for one year and they gave me a pretty substantial discount off the $200 list price for the 6610.

With that same logic I hope you also buy all your clothes at Kmart and Walmart.

Phones are becoming a fashion statement. You can be in or out. Not too hard to understand.

That must be one hot PC, if it fits in your pocket and gets service everywhere!

That Kyocera is old...and not small by today's standards. Assuming its the one I'm thinking of...is it the cheesy looking blue phone that we at Circuit City referred to as the throw away toy phone?

Some people just like color screens...why do you have a color TV? That aside, higher end phones have a lot of other good features, like more advanced phone books, and they tend to get a lot better battery life. Oh, and I believe you spelled "the", "internet", and "sucks" incorrectly.

Anywayz, the 6610 is a sweet phone, i've been watching it for awhile, ever since my good old Ericsson T68m took a crap on me. I didn't know T-Mobile had released it yet...sweet!

Actually, it is kind of hard to understand. You're saying that people pay more than they need to for a phone because they are concerned about what other people might think, and that people judge other people by what cell phone they have.

I'll confess, I do not understand that.

Yea but according to a poll here wearing a belt clip with your phone is "ghey" so using a phone as a fashion statement is not "ghey"?. I had to laugh at reading that thread, all the people who though the belt clip was "ghey" are the same ones shelling out big $$ for phones with features they probably don't need or use just because they feel the need to justify the purchase. If it handles calls alright and has good coverage thats all I need.
