yeah well i drove down to my local sun sales office and picked this bad boy up. its nice machine so far, but i dont think ill be taking it to any lan parties. which kinda sucks (i cant show it off).

i also got an optional storedge a7000 array. im pretty happy with this badboy. 20 terrabyte's of storage is real convenient.

well what should i do with my new server? ohh i have an OC48 of course. its terminated at my house and its direct to Level 3 Comm (a major backbone provider).

possible routes:
warez server
porn server
mirror a chunk of the internet
put it to work crunching numbers for anandtech
use it as a nightlite
mirror slackware (so i can finally get 8.0)

Actually I just found out friday that I was hired at Sun here in the portland area...was pretty good news considering I've been out of work for about 8 months now. But it's gonna be hard going in there drooling over systems all day.
 
I was looking at your rigs...everything uses a RoadRunner cable connection except your Sun machine. The OC3+ doesn't give you enough bandwidth? 😉

well they are using roadrunner cause i havent migrated everything over to my OC48 lan yet. duh.

i wonder what games are ported to solaris. i bet id get mad frames if i loaded a sparc linux and ran some quake3.

well i l et it mirror a chunk of the internet yesterday. i mirrored everything under the COM master domain. so everything ending in .com i have a copy on my server. i was just tired of everything loading so slow.

you guys realy need to get one of these. theyre pretty fun to play with.

This is so cool. I did the exact same thing on mine. Pages loaded so damn quick it was unbelievable. The only problem is that i got bored since one I downloaded all the .coms it was all just static data. So I hired a bunch of programmers to make "forum bots." This is so cool cause this forum is acutally on my Sun and is under the control of my forum bots. You all do not really exist.
