Is it custom for an oem drive to not be shipped with a drivers disk??? I mean Winxp during install I think is going to want some drivers to recognize this sata drive, right???

This will be installed on an Abit Ic7 mobo that has an onboard SATA controller....Will it boot my master drive IDE drive first?? Or do I insert winxp disk and when it loads it should find al my drives includingthe SATA drive and then when Install on teh SATA drive it will know to go to the SATA drive each time first??? I was thinking about leaving my winxp now on my backup drive intact just in case....

Just hook it up by itself first. It will be recognized. Then just install XP and when done install the chipset drivers. You do not need to load additional drivers unless you are going to use the silicon image sata chip. If so hit F6 during setup and insert the floppy that came with the board.

Yes. And besides, you would need drivers for the SATA controller. You never need drivers for the hard drives themselves.

As fredtam said, your board should recognize the drive fine.
