ok so i through everything in the system
i can enter the bios and change things around just fine but when i try to load the OS the system reboots even at default settings

i think it is due to the fact that the bios won't let me change the vcore and it sticks it at 1.51v

this is an MSI k7T turbo (kt133a) motherboard with a 1700+

i'm gonna try my 2500+ right now

anyone have any ideas ??

ok now i through the 2500+ in and it booted just fine with my last settings as a 1700+ (1.46ghz)
then it locked up in the bios and now it won't turn on
i even tryed clearing the cmos

this blows
looks like I got a broken motherboard

or both my cpu's are screwed

what do you all think ?

edit: also i tryed 3 different sticks of pc-133 in different slots with no luck

lol ... dood... you tried to keep your old OS ... ?
(letme guess ... from your P4 system that died?)

You should know better than that I would think... :p

whatever you do ,,, dont install it when overclocked, and hit F5 during setup if you want 'standard pc' (no APIC)

P.S. you should run at least 10 loops of memtest86 (all tests) with cache ON before installing also (just to make sure)

yeah i got it covered

the memtest i was running was only checking 256mb of mem
i just grabbed an older version cause i didn't see the floppy for the other one

so anyways after i reinstall this os i'm gonna benchmark comparing the 2500+ to the 1700+ and the GF4 ti4200 to the GF fx 5200

this should be fun
and my bios chip from my P4 system should be coming in the mail soon

The MSI K7T Turbo doesn't support Thourougbreds, nor Bartons. I think that's your main problem. I have been facing similar problems with my K7T Turbo.

The CPU support list for the K7T Turbo can be found here.

And, just between us, that's no OC'ing board, since there are no options at all in the BIOS (all you have is the 100/133FSB jumper).

it don't support them officially but like any other socket A board it will run them

anyways this board does suck the highest voltage it lets me give is 1.7v (1.63v actual)
it has very few memory options and i can't get my network or sound card to work in it

all I get is irq conflicts nomatter what slot I try or what i turn off in the bios

i turned off onboard sound, usb, both serial ports, paralell port,
and it still gives me trouble

looks like this 30 dollar purchase ain't lasting long
