It's reaaallly hard to get one of these and I have friends that sadly didn't make it. I had to compete with people from a lot of other great schools for a spot too. Apparently my resume was strong and they liked talking to me. This summer is going to ROCK!

They're located in Fairfax, VA (near DC) if there are any ATer's there.

I think I just might be able to get into the Warhammer Online beta now =). And hopefully help ensure it's an awesome game.

I'd better get some Warhammer Fantasy miniatures fast or I will probably be chased out of the office by sword-wielding developers for not having enough on display at my desk.

I guess I don't post much on ATOT, but this is pretty life-changing. Does anyone play UO or DAOC now, or is anyone looking forward to Warhammer?

Good luck and congrats.

But now that you've advertised this, if Warhammer sucks, guess who's getting blamed? ;)

Interns are probably great scapegoats.

Thanks !

EA? Awesome. You're working for the devil himself. :p

You've joined Al Qaeda for software engineers. Congratulations.

I've known alums/current students going to EA that liked it. I've got a few months to experience first hand whether or not it is for me.

Also, Mythic is a semi-recent acquisition (2006) and they are pretty autonomous.

I know I've heard that after the EA spouse thing changes were definitely made. But it's also important to think about people working long hours in the industry not because of a boss telling them to. Maybe they just really like the work? Or maybe they feel a need to stay on par with peers who do. Besides, any time you're in a job anywhere that's working you too hard... you can just quit. If you're at EA I'm sure you can find a job elsewhere if you want.

They made it very clear that I'll be getting paid for overtime too.

a friend worked for EA years ago and for the last several months he was there he would only show up a couple of days a week and never on time but they would pay him in full as long as he turned in a timesheet.

Congrats on a solid internship, try and change the genre of MMO's from pay-for jobs to actual games!

You just sold your soul to the devil. LOL @ ensure warhammer online to be an awesome game. They have so much shit going on in there right now, they pushed the release date back again and can't give people a definite release date.

Grats on the job, coffee boy.

Congrats. But I hope they're paying for your housing too, because Northern VA isn't cheap :)

Awesome!

I'm still waiting to hear back from Intuit (I flew out to mountain view about a week ago, they said about two weeks) and Microsoft (and a few other smaller companies).

I have very little interest in game development and so I didn't bother applying to any of the game developers. I'm more going for web application development.

I hate you personally for
a) ruining game developrs.
b) not supporting widescreen.
c) a byzantine registration process that involves multiple usernames/passwords
d) not allowing redownloads of games after 6 months
e) releasing unfinished games

Congrats !
I hope you like the job.
EA can be a bit of a pain to work with.
I was looking at joining a project that had EA as the publisher but after reading the agreement decided not to.
Terms like " Developer will submit work every 30 days for approval and feedback from EA"
Sorry I want a publisher not a big brother.
Imagine if book authors were told what to write based on what the publisher wanted.

Still a job at EA can be a good stepping stone to bigger things.
Getting to know others in the industry is also great.
Most of my work is from people I met.

Can you put in a word to the broadcom execs that they need to stop being such a pain in the ass to the EE field.
I dreaded anytime I had to work with broadcom components due to their draconian technical information policies. They act like their documents contain the secret of life the universe and everything :)
