Hi all,

Just to let you know that i have finally got my hands on a 7900GT (CLUB3D)...

Over the next couple of days i shall provide info - from a relative NOOBS point of view - on how the whole volt/mem mod and OCing experience goes!

Wish me luck :D

UPDATE 1-

Everything @ stock using coolbits auto-detect feature = 560core / 784mem (1568)

- temp maxed @ 74c in Oblivion running at 1280x1040 with all settings maxed

UPDATE 2-

Man the vf900 is an awesome GPU cooler! Am still running without any volt mods @ 560/1568

IDLE temp = 33C

LOAD temp = 46C i.e. Oblivion maxed out or running rthdribl or ATI tool test!

thats 28C lower than the STOCK cooler... seems like almost TOO much!

Going to volt mod this wkd :D

UPDATE 3-

OK so i have done the 1.4V mod - looked ugly but am now running @ a stead 1.4V for the GPU core!

Just using the Coolbits Auto-Detect Optimum Frequencies i was pleasantly surprised when it found my settings to be:

Core = 665Mhz (mod 1.4V)

MEM = 784mhz (stock 2.02V)

IDLE = 35C

LOAD = 47C (these cards with vf900 seem soo cold!)

Need to spend some time tweaking and benching this baby... was wondering @ what level core that mem bandwidth becomes an issue?

Because so far i doubt if it is necessary to do the VMEM mod...!?!

thanks all

Did you know sloths eat, and drink, and mate upside down? Half of their life they spend upside down!! I'll keep you posted on what else sloths can do.

Really though, everyone has been displaying news about the 7900GT, so sorry if I'm not so enthuised. Sounds like you've been waiting for a long time, so I hope you enjoy. If you're voltmodding I think you'll see some results that will really give you what you paid for.:thumbsup:

Cut some slack Josh.

Pimping out the 7900GT is like eating your first slice of warm apple pie. You remember what that was like don't ya?

I ate my first slice on top of home plate of my high school's baseball field one Summer night. Mickey's Malt Liquor was the aphrodisiac of choice... :beer:

Don't just use the coolbits auto, take your memroy up to 800 if you really want to use coolbits. My mem was detected at the same exact speed as yours (I did the detect for a general look at what would be a minimum OC), but it works fine at 845 right now, I could probably go higher, but at 530 core I doubt that is needed. I'm sure you can get over 700/850

Yeh the Coolbits auto was just so i could quickly get an idea of where to start the real OCing!

would like to know if it is actually worth raising the MEM speed though? - suppose i could run a fw benches myself with it at diff speeds...

I'm sure your card could do 800 or the ram easily as well, give it a shot. mine does and I dont believe I get as nice an oc on the core, 650 or so.
