Got my first ticket in over 10 years

I used to get a lot of tickets but since grad school and especially when hauling kids, I've really slowed down. This past weekend I was driving in a 45MPH zone and may have dowshifted and hit 50MPH to make a light. A few seconds later I was handed this for driving "speedy fast". I was also warned that "Mommy" would be informed.

I am going to take away the "cop's" notebook and pencil soon.

That's insta-fine if a real cop saw you pull that move.

I don't understand the joke.

Sorry, let me explain. I was running errands with my 5yo and 3yo boys. I sped up slightly and my 5yo who had been on a writing/drawing kick drew me a ticket for driving "speedy fast". You see, my 5yo really has limited understanding of our motor vehicle code and how breaking established rules results in fines and other consequences. Most fines are manifested by the police officer handing the infringing party a ticket or citation. Since my boy has no idea what a ticket is, he drew what he thinks is on a citation for a moving violation. Sorry, it was funny thing that a 5 yo would do. I forgot about the sophisticated ATOT humor requirements.

Some people can't take a step back every now and then. Sad isn't it.

I got a small giggle out of it.

Don't worry, I got it before I read your explanation. Cute

So, your son has some sort of concept that the police hand you a ticket when you break the law? And YOU haven't gotten a ticket? The question you should catch your son off guard with is "So, what did mommy give you so that you wouldn't tell me about the ticket she got?"
