I've tried two Razors, a G5, a G7 (with those cool weights inside you can take out), and a Microsoft Revolution. All sucked imo. The middle mouse button resistance is like 50% higher than say.. my trusty MX518.

This is something I dislike too. In RTS games I pan the camera by middle-clicking and dragging, but this is difficult when the resistance in the button is too high and I have to mash the mouse down. I found the middle button on the MX518 too stiff, but fixing it was a simple matter of opening it and removing a wire spring, then it was perfect.

bought myself a sidewinder X5.

works okay. i've never had dpi/refresh issues when gaming anyways, so it works. but the nice thing is the switchable dpi, allows me to go from gaming/normal mouse to detail work in one click. i'd be fine if there were only 2 of those buttons.
