Finished boating safety course, required by state of CT if you want to operate a boat or jetski. After a grueling 9 hour course (had to get up at 6) I got my license. I can now operate boats up to 60' long.

Now, time to start looking for jetski. Btw, anyone have any idea why jetskis are so expensive? A decent jetski costs around $8000. You can get a bike for that price.

because, like a bike, it has an engine, and it has to be strong to survive the impacts it takes. Also, its fiberglass i do believe, and fiberglass isnt cheap.

Yeah, but unlike a bike it doesn't have a tranny, brakes, tires, suspension etc. Anyways, my friend thinks that Jetskis will start falling in price, as more people buy them.

WTF look in S. Florida, one year old skis at half price.

Just don't be a water maggot to use real boaters. ;)

Personal watercraft aren't a new invention - they've been around for at least 15 years. The prices aren't going to change much in the future.

Short answer: PWCs cost $8k because people are willing to pay $8k for them.

MIKE

Actually, fiberglass is cheap. Probably costs all of $200-300 in materials to make the hull for a jetski.

Uhh, yeah, the prices fall, dumbnuts. You can get a 260hp car for around 20k these days. How much would that have cost 5-10 years ago? Also, people buy a lot of cars, but the rate isn't increasing. Please hide your ignorance better next time.

Hehe, I had to take that boaters safety class all through high school.... I took it once in Middle school and passed. Then I took it in gym class in school once and passed (as the law was written in Michigan at the time, you needed to be certified if you were under 18)... So let's see... I have 2 Certificates now and there I was in my last year of High school in a Lifetime Activities class and they required we take the boaters safety as part of the class (it counted towards our class grade) and I complained to the teacher saying that I already have 2 certificates and I was 18 already, but they made me take it again and I was one of the few people in the class to pass it..... So yeah, I have 3 certificates for from those classes and I don't need any of them!
