Got my Athlon 64 X2 up and running

Just fired up my X2 and am using the 615 Bios I downloaded before DFI took it off the website. No problems so far. Just ran Sisoft CPU and got 22231 ALU and 7593/9782 FPU. Mem scores 5355/5350. Nothing overclocked yet. Have to run out for awhile so I'll get back later with more info. I replaced my FX-55 which I'll put in my other machine.

And switch to the 618 BIOS, I heard the 615 has issues with USB and LAN.

I thought I read the 510-3 was the best ?

I don't think there is a *best* BIOS for every configuration, which is why some people still swear by older BIOS releases while some like the newer ones. You can always flash back to the older one if the newer one doesn't improve stability or overclocks.

Congrats.. too bad MSI boards won't have X2 support for several more weeks... er for those of us with Nforce3/AGP.

You're right. I read that the -3 is for TCCD memory which is what I have so I am assuming its the best for me. 😛

Sisoft is so fun

Worth every penny!

Im just playin, i hate sisoft though its a POS that doesnt show real world gains at all. How is multitasking on that thing? Does it OC well?

Just got home and quickly ran Norton's antivirus scan, Prime 95, Internet Explorer, and loaded Half Life 2. Half life is maxed out at 1600x1200 all eye candy turned on. Was playable but jerky once in awhile. Still hard to believe with all the other apps running that it even loaded. Unfortunately have to go out again. Will run more tests tonight. What are some good multitasking tests?

Will try encoding xvid and Divx tonight. Thought I would have to reload xp pro but I tried it first on present OS and all it did was ask for a reboot and I was all set.

It might still show one graph for two CPUs... make sure (Performance tab) View > CPU History is set properly. It should show two graphs for two CPUs by default, though.
