Well, after some trials and tribulations, plus some grief, I got my AMD-based system up and running, my first since my Photon 100 HC and a k62-350. I tell ya, that experience sort of turned me off to AMD back then, but I seem to be doing well so far. Here's what I have:

AMD Duron 750 CPU (this is just temporary until I can get a desktop Palamino Athlon)
EPoX 8KHA socket-A MB
Antec SX1030 chassis
512 MB Crucial DDR @ 2ns
Gainward GeForce2 Pro AGP video card (core and memory running @ GeForce2 Ultra speeds)
ViewSonic PS790 19" monitor
Adaptec 29160N Ultra160 SCSI controller
IBM UltraStar 18ES 18GB Ultra2-SCSI drive
IBM DeskStar 75 GXP 30 GB ATA-100 drive
Pioneer 6x SCSI slot-loading DVD drive
Yamaha 4x2x6 SCSI CD-RW drive
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz PCI sound card
Altec Lansing ACS-33 speakers (getting some BA4800's at the end of the summer)
3Com 3C905B NIC
Hauppauge WinTV-PCI TV tuner
...and some miscellaneous stuff, like MS Internet keyboard Pro, Logitech Mouseman USB, Kodak webcam, mouse bungee, and of course, my cool rounded cables. :)

Some of the stuff is from my old system, and actually, the sound card, CPU MB, RAM, and video card are the only new things. But I'm happy. Aren't you all happy for me?

Great! When you get the next urge to upgrade, go for a PCI vid card another 19" Viewsonic :)

IDE= big and cheap for storage, there's no use for SCSI if you're storing MP3s and movies, etc. on a hard drive.
