That POS 805 at a pathetic 2.66ghz and 533fsb is getting huge sales showing there is a market for low speed dual cores....
The POS 805 is also lowering Intel's margins, X2s are expensive to make and AMD is still capacity limited so making a huge high-demand part doesn't make much sense.
BUt remember...Intel is effectively using this to push dual cores into mainstream....If AMD could do that as welll and get rid of most of the single core line, capacity could be there...
I know many gamers would not like that, but the more dual cores are mainstream the more programmers will make their apps SMP aware....
I see your point, but I think they are moving away from a segment of users they normally had and the price points they usually had....
