Out here in California there was a pretty well known case of a married couples who's initials where

MEP(heart)NIP

I don't remember the first initials well other than they ended in a P, the second where 'NIP'. Now bear in mind these are the initials of the people who own the car (California has a number of symbols you can put on plates, hearts, hash marks, etc).

Some japaneese female cop complained that NIP was racist and went on a crusade to have the plate cancelled.
