Got me an open box 9800 from BB!

Hi, I'm the person with the huge problem on the radeon 9500 modded to 9700 so I went to best buy and found an open box 9800 np lying on the shelf. Bought it for $219.99 + tax, and went home, installed it and now it seems my problems are gone. Ran many benchmarks and nothing crashed this time. I only got infineon 3.0ns ram, but I was wondering if it's worth it to keep on searching for another 9800 with samsung memory. I get 52xx 3dmark 2003 and 125xx 3dmark 2001 scores. Are these scores correct? I overclocked to 380core/320mem

Those scores seem pretty accurate. When I had my 9800np with the same cpu, I got 46xx not overclocked. I didn't overclocked my 9800np or bios flashed it. I decided to keep the 5600 Ultra that did 34xx on 3dmark03 and returned the 9800np. Not bad for a $105 card. I also have a 5900 that's clocked at 442/914 and I get 58xx on 3dmark03.

Your scores are right in line with the system you have. I have the exact same video card clocked to the same levels, 1.8 OC'd to 2.7, 512MB PC3200, and I consistently get 5500+ in 3DMark03. You got a great deal on the 9800np!

Thanks, I was also wondering if it's worth it to keep this card since it has infineon memory chips. Great deal @ 220 i think, even open-boxed, and also why are my 3dmark 2001 scores so low when i see all these other people have like around 17xxx? I'm going to put my zalman heatsink once i decide i want to keep this card but so far it's looking great.

12xxx for 3dmark2k1 seems prety low to me. Yo should be getting 15000 or so in that clock speeds. I get 12xxx with 2xAA and 16xAF in my 9700 pro and 2500xp@2800XP barton

3.0ns mem is rated at 333mhz so you could possibly get more out of it. Keep the card you have and be happy; you landed a great deal!
