I would kill somebody in front of their own momma just to get a ten speed. And if anyone testifies against me I will gouge their eyes out.
 
It's a start at least and perhaps down the road you'll want to upgrade to a better bike. What's sad is that Mongoose used to be a really good name that made excellent bikes until they started making bikes for Wal Mart. Personally I'm a big fan of Specialized bicycles and would recommend perhaps taking a look at them when you're ready to upgrade. Good start though.
 
Why blow $500+ on something you don't know if you'll stick with for the long term? Wal-mart bike is great for just regular use, especially because someone will probably steal it.
