Because its a trivial matter to watch the traffic, figure out the necessary MAC address, and change yours to it. Its the same concept as watching someone enter a secret club by knocking on the door with a special code. You only have to watch it once and then you can do it, too.
There are programs out there that will do all of this for you and are as easy as clicking a button.

I don't understand why people are so freaked out about people using their wifi. My network is open.. I don't care. If someone wants to use it, that's fine with me. It's not like they're going to hack into any of my shit.. I could care less about the bandwidth.
