Here is my situation.

Fresh install, I have also tried updating all drivers.

First, try making sure the DMA is enabled. Do this via the BIOS and then through the device manager under either the IDE controller properties (NT, 2K, XP), or the actual drive properties (9x, ME). If you still suffer from problems, try putting the drive on it's own channel and make sure it's the master drive.

DMA is enabled, I will try putting one drive on its own channel.
Any other suggestions?

Your controller cannot handle DMA mode using a CDROM is the problem. Force it to PIO mode.
