Got into Accident with Avis Vehicle

Spooner

Just a fender bender, with the vehicle being fully operable still.... but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone before. What are their actions?

The bumper is cracked, a light is pushed in, and the hood is bent a bit. 😕

Stupid thing locked up on a slick road and rear-ended someone. No damage to their car, so they drove off.

my company has us waive all insurance because it would go through them.

I'm entirely sure how this will be played out. The lady on the phone claims that I probably won't even be held responsible.

u guys get their insurance if it's business ? I think they would kill me if I did... I always put it on my own insurance, but I guess I never actually thought through how liable I really was. THen again, it is still me that's driving... I think I _should_ be responsible.

Be aware that while the rental car is in the body shop being repaired you are liable for every day of lost revenue until the car is back on the road. Your personal insurance may not cover this.

Never thought about that... but I can see how that would add up. Sheesh. Now I have to drive even MORE careful when I'm on travel. Damn.

Never happened to me but if it would I'm fully covered by my Platinum VISA card. I have to decline ALL insurance from the rental company.

I could enter it in a demolision derby and be good to go.

seems like he was renting this for business, in which case the business would be liable for it.

Nah, lost revenue is almost impossible to prove. When I worked insurance, we gave them a big middle finger when they tried to claim it. hehe, now I work rental 🙂 (business use, ie temp subs veh, not insurance replacement), but its not something you have to worry about in either case.

Avis, part of the Cendant group, should be in business rental also, really hard to claim any type of loi (loss of use) in that case.

Yes, it was definitely rented for business purposes.

If it is covered by my company (95% sure it is), does it trickle down and affect me personally at all?

well you could be fired or they could sue for indemnity.

Yes it does. Its a rear ending (ie chargeable/at fault accident). It should show up on the clue rpt. And what is interesting in this situation, is while the business is responsible due to vicarious liability, the driver can still be named in a suit for excess damage.
