I don't know if there was time for it, but any time I see cars really braking hard or driving weird on a highway, I put on my hazards. It's especially good if there are trucks in the area. Getting rear-ended by one of them can easily be game-over. I've almost been rear-ended after braking at the end of a long line of traffic backed up by construction. Everyone just sees a few brake lights on a highway, but they only think, "Slow," and not "Stop!" Hazard lights indicates something worthy of more attention.

Looks like two identical BMWs were involved. Was she driving the Galant?

Yeah, exact same color... Note to all 17 year old girls: Do not make your first crash involve 2 BMWs!
Who hit the other bmw?

OP did, but he was pushed into it

Then won't he be at fault too?

Heh, one massive accident in I-5, one minor in I-405. Glad you're ok though. Although, I don't see why there would be a lot of swerving @ Exit 26 southbound unless someone was trying to swerve into the right lane to exit...

next time.. give yourself MORE SPACE when its wet. I always do.. so i do not have to slam the brakes.. and I got room for idiots behind me who arent giving enoguh space.. so i can stagger brake it.

At least here in CA if you rear end someone its your fault, but if the car you hit rear ends someone after you hit them, then it is your fault as well = 17 y/o girl is going to be paying some serious $ to repair/replace 2 beamers. Essentially the idea is that you should be in control of your car at all times no matter what.

ouch

go find a GOOD chiropractor and get straightened out, and you'll probably need to go several times. Believe me, it'll help tremendously in the long run.

Good thing you were ok. It's just a car in the end.

Now if she was also driving a BMW, she may have be able to stop in time. I always hate it when people in vehicles I know have have worse braking capability than mine tail me. I know there's no chance they can stop faster than me in my car.

In my 30 or so years owning and driving Bimmers, the MOST common accident damage I've seen has been rear end damage...the fucking brakes work so well that the morons behind you just don't have time nor brakes good enough to respond.

Sorry to see your little 3 all banged up. I've always wished I could fit in one...they're cute little rides.

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing.
