Got hit by virus. Computer wont boot

If it were me, I'd backup and reinstall. If you really want to screw with it, find some bootable antimalware discs, and run them on the affected drive. Use a few different ones. After they do their thing, boot to your XP cd, and do a repair install.

download this and burn to CD or boot up with USB

i would reinstall windows to be safe because antivirus wont get rid of all traces of it. if you have important files put the hard drive onto another computer. if you do install the hard drive on another computer run a sandbox program so the virus doesnt spread to the computer

Get your XP disk to boot to. At the first screen pick recovery console. As you progress to the Recovery Console you may be asked which partition you would like to boot into. Type the number associated with the partition containing your Windows install (usually 1 or 2) and then press enter to continue. You may be asked for your administrator password. If you have one, type it in and press enter. If you do not have a password to boot your computer into Windows, simply press enter. Now you should be at a command prompt. from here, type the following command without the quotes and press enter: “chkdsk /p”

If that does not fix it then you need to format and reload. If that gets you back into windows then scan for your viruses and malware. Use MalwareBytes, Spybot and Super Anti-Spyware.
