Got grounded today

But by Sprint...not my parents.

Fucking Sprint is down in Texas, so I haven't been receiving incoming calls, texts, or voicemail. I was suppose to go to Galveston with some friends, but my texts went "unanswered". I didn't bother to call since I figured they had all just slept in due to the late drive in from college.

Well I was wrong, and they had been trying to contact me. They ended up leaving already, and now I'm stuck doing nothing. I wish my friends were smart enough to contact me via email or instant message. I've been on the computer most of the morning...

Humble isn't that far from Galveston. I'm sure there can't be much difference between them. Why don't you ride your bike down to Galveston and meet up with your friends?

Does this have something to do with the Earthquake? that happened a bit ago?

I don't believe. I'm in Houston. The Sprint network has been pretty shaky the past few days, but I didn't notice a lack of incoming messages until recently. What's weird is works fine when I'm not on the EVDO network, but I get EVDO in my house. I can also make outgoings calls and everything is "downloaded". I guess that forces it into the normal mode since EVDO isn't working.

I wonder if I can disable EVDO access on my BlackBerry?

Humble is about 1.5hrs away from Galveston. By the time I get down there, I'd only have a few hours until they leave. Plus I'd spend $30 just driving there and back. I'm just going to relax near my pool and go for a run or something.

If you had solid plans to do something, why would you just assume they canceled and didn't bother to tell you? 😕

This. Assumptions FTL. Also, you had their numbers... why didn't you just call them on a landline or something?

OP, you are hilarious. You're grounded because your cell does not work? I'm old so I remember a time before cell phones ...

It was a time when men were men ... and women were glad of it.

I'm not that old, but I remember a time when no kids had cell phones. We used the landlines at our houses and used pay phones. Good times. 😛

The plans weren't solid. They said they'd call me in the morning. So I waited until 12 to call them since they are usually late sleepers especially after a night of driving back from college. I should have called earlier.

That's what happen when we advance technologically. They could have contacted me a number of other ways. My cell phone could make calls but not receive them, so I should have just called earlier. What sucks is they live about 5 minutes away, they could have drove by.

I knew of a time before cellphones as well... I know of a time before electricity was used.

Yes... and some men were glad of it as well.

When I was in the military (pre-mass cell phone days), there were many times they told us to stay by a phone in case of a weekend recall or exercise, I had to lounge in my apartment all weekend long. Now, freaking 8 year old's have cell phones.

If I get only get back those lost weekends.
