Oil up past $96 on higher price forecast

Oil prices bounced back above $95 a barrel Tuesday on the back of forecasts for more expensive crude in 2012

The increase in 2012 is based on a further narrowing of global spare capacity ... and by our view that the overall geopolitical context of the market is likely to become increasingly uncertain as 2012 progresses

From $3.46 go $3.69 today in Lexington. Two stations still at $3.46 so I filled up. Will all be $3.69 by morning.

Again, a $0.23 jump in one day yet it will take weeks to drop by that same amount once oil falls.

Keep in mind you can make money when the price drops also...so your comment makes no sense from a trading perspective.

I've mentioned shorting in this thread multiple times, however, more money tends to be made on the way up than shorting on the way down.

Chicago-Area Companies Plan More Layoffs

As the economic recovery continues to sputter, several Chicago-area companies have announced plans for more layoffs, starting next month. A total of seven Illinois companies have filed reports with the state that it plans to lay off a total of more than 600 workers, starting next month.

Among the Chicago-area companies affected: Morgan Stanley, Jewel-Osco, Bistro 110, Emmis Communications and Ryerson.

The Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act requires employers to provide 60 days advance notice of pending plant closures or mass layoffs. The law applies to companies with 75 or more employees

Gas Prices On The Rise Again

Our little holiday from higher gas prices is over for now in Chicago.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Chicago Thursday morning was $3.97.

Last week, it was $3.89.

ChicagoGasPrices.com indicates that the cheapest price detected in the area was $3.73. That relative bargain was found at the Delta Sonic at 8490 W. North Ave.; the Costco at 8400 W. North Ave

The most expensive price was $4.69, at the BP station at 755 W. Lawrence Ave. near the entrance to Lake Shore Drive.

Dave is seriosly the biggest troll on the board and should be banned. Gas prices are lower where I live than they have been for months.

You can get it for $3.53 where I live....it was closer to 4.50 before.

Honestly I hope that they raise IL gas to $6 so the state comes to a grinding halt and implodes.

Oil and gasoline prices on the rise again

A funny thing happened on the way to lower oil and gasoline prices: They went up.

Two weeks after the U.S. and other oil-importing nations took action that knocked down the price of oil to almost $90 a barrel, it's back around $100. And gas pump prices, which had dropped since May, are up about a nickel since Friday.

Oil is rising again as investors bet that the economies of many countries, including the U.S., will improve in the second half of the year, and global demand for petroleum will rise.

While most experts agree that the world has plenty of oil, there are concerns that supplies could get tight as demand rises.

Our economy will never recover as long as consumers have to sacrifice what to buy in order to afford gasoline. The oil companies are in control and will be until they've destroyed the economy.

Which brings us to the real problem: the middle class in the US is a dying breed. We are left with the rich and those who will join the poor shortly.

The best form of transportation is directly under your feet - start walking you lazy ba$tards

I bet that none of the people here who are angry about the price of gasoline drive a Prius

I have and even spent time documenting with reference to the posts the huge multitude of demonstrable lies he's told in this thread. He's untouchable for some reason, I think it's out of pity. Even in other threads it's clear nobody cares for what he "adds". He's a liability, adds no value.

Seriously, Dave needs to be banned again. He adds less than anyone, liberal or conservative. He's just a troll.

Most of us just laugh at your bullshit. What's the latest from the Illinois AG's office on why you have to pay $1.00+/gal more than most locales? Ever figure out why you're the only one getting carded for vinegar purchases? :D

Quick jump in gas prices surprises

Talk about adding insult to injury: In the same week the unemployment rate rises, the price of gas shoots up 20 cents per gallon.

QuikTrip is just as mystified and unhappy with the sharp price hike as its customers, said company spokesman Mike Thornbrugh.
"We scratch our heads as much as the next person," he said.

The company sells its gasoline at a set markup, Thornbrugh said, so it doesn't make or lose any more money when the prices goes up.

"It does appear that crude oil and gasoline are not being driven by supply and demand, but by speculators," he said. "Not only are our customers mad about it, so is QT."

International speculators ultimately are behind this week's price rise, agreed James Williams of WTRG Economics, a crude oil and gasoline market analyst.

Williams estimates that drivers are spending 35 to 50 cents per gallon beyond the price dictated by actual supply and demand. The rest is driven by speculators' fear and greed, he said.

What happened this week, Williams said, is that speculators shrugged off the recent attempt by the U.S. and other governments to drive down oil prices by releasing 60 million barrels of government-owned crude onto the market, he said.

Oh No.... Gas Prices FALLING!!!

The True Americans who don't make up shit are not surprised by this!

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/07/nj_gas_prices_continue_to_fall_1.html

Motorists continue to see lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey, even though the national average is up slightly for the first time in eight weeks.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of regular gasoline in New Jersey on Friday was $3.56, down a penny from last week.

That marks the seventh straight week that gas prices have fallen in the state. But that's still much higher than the cost a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.59.

Uh, that's NJ...not the rest of the US...

Your own article states:

Motorists continue to see lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey, even though the national average is up slightly for the first time in eight weeks

With that said, it's holding steady at $3.69 per gallon after the $0.23 jump that I posted a few days ago. Oil had topped out at $99 but fell about 2% with the US jobs report on Friday.

Since everyone wants to post local articles, I'll post mine showing up to $0.30 jumps in KY around the 4th of July weekend.
