That penfed card is almost $.20/gallon right now since it's 5%!

And it stacks with the Kroger $0.10 discount at Shell or up to $1.00 off at the Kroger gas stations.

All stations back to $3.48-$3.49 around me today.

Kroger only works if you bought at least $100 of grocery stuffs from them per month and they won't accumulate, ie. reset every single month. At least how it is at my Kroger.

Is that 5% cashback on gasoline good for the whole year? Chase Freedom is having a special of 5% cashback on gasoline beginning July 1st but only good for 3 months.

Gas prices jump for holiday

Gas prices have climbed from an average of $3.29 in Des Moines to $3.39 in time for the holiday weekend.

The increase follows a jump in the price of crude oil, which climbed from around $90 per barrel a week ago to $95 at the end of last week.

But gas prices, while declining from their high point, are on the rise again. Was $3.79 in Eastern KY this morning but $3.45 in Lexington.

and .. can you show that that is related to the worsening of the US Economy? or related to the standard price increase that occurs around ANY holiday, July 4th being one of them??

True...however, I do feel that the rising gas prices in general have already started hurting the economy.

That dolt actually thinks that gas prices have not hurt the economy?

The war on drugs has certainly failed on him.

Oil rises above $95

Oil edged above $95 a barrel Monday in Asia, bolstered by news that Greece was saved from near collapse after obtaining a vital loan installment.

"That has eased concerns that Greece's debt crisis will negatively impact the economic recovery in Europe," said Victor Shum, analyst with energy consultancy Purvin & Gertz in Singapore.

He said trading was thin due to the Independence Day holiday in the U.S. but expects the oil price to gradually rise up to $100 a barrel if economic news remain positive.

Now that the stock market had big gains this past week, gas will go back to $4 gallon. Like I said, this is all a game on the backs of the American people. Get massive profits at $4, pull out, let the price drop down .50 and start again. This shit should be illegal.

The price of gas and stock market level are linked now that investors are hitting oil as an investment. The cost goes up more as a function of the investors than due to real production costs.

Govt won't do anything about it as the ppl in power are also investors.

started?

This thread began on 12-10-2010... either it has.. or it hasnt.

It cant be "starting" for 8 months.

Of course it has, along with the increase in a lot of other commodities. We have a consumer based society. Gas is a necessity for almost everyone. The more the average person spends on gas and other necessities the less they have to use in our consumer based economy.

Sure there are a few winners but the overall economy takes a hit.

Oil up past $96 on higher price forecast

Oil prices bounced back above $95 a barrel Tuesday on the back of forecasts for more expensive crude in 2012

The increase in 2012 is based on a further narrowing of global spare capacity ... and by our view that the overall geopolitical context of the market is likely to become increasingly uncertain as 2012 progresses
