I think this is funny though.

We the taxpayers pay for officers to show up in court (wasted money).
Usually there's a reduction or if you're lucky you get off for the crime (less revenue).

So essentially fighting a ticket is a double loss for our communities. I think the right thing to do is that if we're gonna take a cut in revenue by reducing fines, we shouldn't be spewing out more money to cops simultaneously :D

Do you do any portion of your work for free? Why should cops?

And I fail to see how a cop showing up in court to help assure a conviction on a legitimate case is a waste of time.

If you aren't 18, then aren't your parents responsible financially for you, since you're still a juvenile? Meaning if you don't pay, since you don't have a credit rating yet, isn't it your parents who will get in trouble for it?

Plead not guilty and explain the situation to the court.

If then ordered to pay the fine - setup some plan.

And being a donkey to the courts will not get you anywhere.
doing it to your parents got you this far. /lecture

The drugs are fucking up your life (yes weed is a drug). I told you months ago to quit.
It's time to get your life together. You are heading down the wrong road. Trust me you don't want to end up in prison. You're young and you have time to straighten up.

And before the dumbshits come in and say oh man weed isn't a drug I'd like to tell you to stfu. He is 16 years old and living under his parents roof. He doesn't need some 25 year old weed smoking loser telling him it's okay.

Ok, if I were the cop, I would want money, duh. I'm just saying. We're double penalizing the community in these cases by paying more money to cops, and by reducing the fine.

tell the judge you want to do the time instead of paying the fine
since it sounds like you are homeless anyway, this makes it a WIN-WIN

You're 16. What your parents don't realize, is that they're still responsible for you. The city can bill your parents that ticket.

1. Plead guilty
2. Tell them you cannot pay
3. Spend time in jail
4.........
5. Profit?

If your parents come to visit you in jail, refuse to see them. It will be nice fuck you to them!

This thread is now about my ticket (orignally asking if cops showed up in court to dispute tickets)

Cliffs:

-I'm 16.
-Parents wanted me out of their house (no details sry) and called cops
-Cops asked me to leave
-I refused.
-Cop + his partner tried forcing me out.
-Didnt work. Called backup.
-Got my ass kicked by 5 cops.

Got fined $75 for trespassing and spent a night in jail (for 'Breach of Peace')....I know I'm fortunate I didnt get booked for resisting arrest or something more severe.

However, I really do not have the $$ to pay.

Options at this point
1) Plea guilty - Voluntary Payment
2) Plea guilty - Submissions to Penalty
3) Plea not guilty (perhaps hope the cop is a no-show)

What should I do?

First, you're a legal resident and the police cannot make you leave your place of residence. Second, you're a minor and the state can't kick you out without either providing for your welfare or making sure that you're in the custody of a parent/guardian. Third, in order to be charged with trespassing in Oregon, the property owner has to first file paperwork with the city/county informing them that you're not allowed on the property and that the police have a right to remove you and charge you. Check your state laws, county laws, and city laws (yes, check all of them yourself if you don't get a lawyer) to see if there's some sort of loophole like this you can use.

Lastly, and most importantly, look into getting a lawyer.

Cops are dicks. Fight the ticket.

By definition, sugar and caffeine are also drugs.

Additionally, there's nothing wrong with weed. Period. Don't let some internet-goody-two-shoes tell you otherwise. Do your homework on THC.

So...you've essentially proven you have a problem with authority by disobeying not only your parents but the cops when they arrived too? They probably had some issues with you stoning your way through life: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2032896&highlight= or something else that indicates to them you have no inclination to make anything of yourself.

How's it feel to fail at life already and you're only 16? When you get the chance, stand in front of the mirror and repeat, "So, that's a #2 with extra pickle, no mustard, large size...would you like to try 2 apple pies for $1 today? Okay, that'll be $5.23 at the first window..." You're gonna need these essential skills shortly...

Now, just because you feel you don't have the dollars to pay the ticket you want to try and figure out some way to subvert the system?

Here's a tip, Kid-of-the-Year Nominee, next time your parents along with law enforcement (that they called in to forcibly remove you) ask you to leave, you GTFO. What right do you feel that you have to stay when you won't obey nor respect them and they want you gone?

Yeah besides the facts:
it's illegal, it will keep him from getting employment, high schools will test you for athletics or certain other programs, I'm 99.9% sure it's against his parents wishes, it exposes him to drug dealers and different types of drugs.

You'll try and justify anything. From your posts on here, I know when your parents look at you, they think to themselves, "How the fuck did we end up with this nitwit?"

Tell the judge you don't have the money and you'd rather do jail time.

Smoking weed won't bar employment. There are methods. High school athletic programs aren't the only way to exercise and have a good time. Weed "dealers" aren't all back alley street thugs passing out free LSD. You obviously don't have a grip on reality and just buy into the ignorant government PSA's that anyone who smokes weed once will go insane and start doing every drug under the sun.

Parents' wishes are a concern since they're the parents and own the house, though.

I was bonin yer mom last night and we got to talking about you and she said she should have used a coat hanger. I told her to shut up because it's rude to talk with your mouth full.

People don't totally lose their shit when they go to London Drugs and realize there's over $10,000 worth of amphetamine behind the prescription counter. I don't see how being exposed to $10,000 worth of amphetamine in some random dude's house is any more tempting. Probably less tempting since London Drugs has such cute women at the counter ;)

OP, talk to the prosecutor before your court date. I don't really know how this works, but several people have told me they were able to negotiate a price on speeding tickets by doing that.

I just realized he lives in Canada. My advice, other than "talk with a lawyer" doesn't really apply then. Good luck.

Heh, I beat a trespassing ticket (NYC Subway) by looking like an idiot in front of the judge.
