Got cheered by Best Buy employees!

Orange, CA. A new Best Buy has been under construction for a while now, and since it's visible from my office window it's been a big tease.

Thursday we noticed that the employee cars were off to one side of the parking lot. Excited, we walked over at 8am. An employee popped out of the door and handed us a grand opening flyer. 😀 Said to come back at 9. So we did...

My co-workers and I were the first through the door. All the employees were lined up along the aisle cheering and giving high 5's to us as we walked through. I was cracking up!

Too bad they didn't have any real deals or giveaways or anything. :|

Why did you wait till Sunday morning to share this?

#1: No deals, so nothing to get folks to rush over for.
#2: Forgot until just now since there were no deals to get you to rush over.
#3: I was busy foiling my boss's officle.
#4: I'm getting ready to drive to Oceanside for a VW show.

😀

haha you'll be in the paper!

You're probably right. They were photographing and videoing us the whole time we were there.

I spent a whole $25 on a pair of dirtcheapo 6" speakers for the bus. LoL!

Didn't you see the other ad? "to discourage people from unnecessarily lining up early, we're giving a free laptop to the 100th through 200th customer"

When the Home Depot opened in Manhattan they at least gave out free paint brushes and coupons for $5 off a $15 purchase.

Chapman and City Boulevard right by the Block.

I've got pics of the VW show and will have them up soon. My bus won 3rd place in the Bay Window category! Woot!!!

no special promotions? That sucks...kinda weird having the employees lined up for you and cheering though...

Opening up a new store takes 150 employees about a month to do and it usually involves working day and night to get it done. During this time employees bond together as a group pretty tightly. WHen they walk in for the first time the only thing in the store is the very very basic shelving. All the peghooks, shelves, products, signage, etc are all put up by the employees. After this whole process they are understandably proud of their acomplishment. Since all of this owkr is for nothing more than to allow people to shop at their store, you can proably imagine the reasoning behind the applause for their first customers.
