I've got brand new ones (front pads and rotors, at least) thanks to this. They're supposed to squeak as they're wearing out, but this one didn't.

In that case, you're supposed to listen for the metal to metal grinding.... :D

I had to replace the rotors and pads on the rear of my Caprice for the same reason, didn?t know they were bad till I heard the grinding noise no squeaks. :|

Gadzooks! Those are some worn brake pads. hehe

About two months ago, I replaced my rotors and pads in front, rebuilt the calipers, only cleaned and adjusted the rear brakes since the shoes were still good. But, I forgot to spray the new rotors with brake cleaner to remove the protective oil, I just wiped them off good with a rag (but that isn't good enough). My front brakes smoked for the first few weeks and they generate a lot of brake dust from the burnt oil residue. :p

I did the same thing, but mine only smoked for the first 2 stops I made. maybe I wiped them cleaner than you did.
