The Wall Street Journal telling you that psychiatric drug use is the biggest business in pharmaceuticals today. Now go ahead, put your fingers in your ears and yell how everyone is stupid and that there is a legitimate rise in mental illness to blame. The human body is enormously complex, and we are nowhere near the point where we can predict how any given patient will react to a drug. If we waited for perfect evidence of drug safety, we would never have any drugs.

Hell, even proven life saving drugs have side effects. I'm not talking anti cancer meds. I'm talking basic stuff like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, etc. There are people who have taken them and died. But clearly the benefits outweighed the costs, even when measured in terms of lives lost.

That being said, I agree with your general point in that there has been a noticeable rise in the number of children and young adults that are on some form of mood/mind altering drug. Be it for ADD, depression, or some other cause. It would be interesting to see if this is a result of some societal change, medicinal change (e.g., increased recognition of symptoms), or some other unknown factor. I'm inclined to say its because modern man is increasingly driven towards looking outside himself for the cause of and solution to his problems.

As for your rants about big pharma - they are not forcing people to buy drugs, or even coercing them. It takes two to tango with most drugs, a buyer and a seller. And while I'm not giving big pharma a pass when it comes its role in the drug game, the consumer has just as big (if not a bigger) role. Nancy Reagan said it best . . . "just say no." Its fine with me if pharma companies sell dog shit in pill form. Why? Because I'm not going to buy it and put it in my mouth just because they say it will make me feel good.

...nothing wrong with being wrong man, everyones wrong sometimes. but I think the logical line is drawn when you insist others are sapost to be wrong right along with you.

Thin if your going to comment on anything, i would be curious to know why your so passionate about this topic? some people have reason to be because perhaps they've had experience with situations first hand either from themself or loved ones, or maybe they are in the industry.

the OP is correct though, even this day and age you can find storys and reports everywhere of the pharmaceutical circus playing the economy like a fiddle and treating consumers as fools. Its not just Meds, every industry you can blame the issues it has on $$$(greed) and you will be correct 99.99% of the time.

Sho, that analogy makes sense if your talking about... a new appliance, or resturant or cleaning product or something like that... but in this case its more like blaming a crack mother for having a crack baby, saying well it take two to tango. nope normal people arn't doctors, and that *itch should of been neutered.

EDIT: oh yeah, and they actually are 'coercing' as you say... when they bribe, buy out, and or replace lobbyists with there own people to set there own regulations etc... just to make up fo illness's to sell more and get more drugs approved. Nothing personal, every industry does it for there own greed, agriculture, big oil, etc.

EDIT: also does it not make sense? when.... some Meds are banned in CAD, Europe, Australia, Japan, etc.... but still legal here in the US? I don't think i even need to know whats going on there to understand that something's wrong

Kinda flexing (who doesn't?), and not smiling obviously. Every time I sweat.... I get the sweaty undervboob thing going on. It's annoying. ESPECIALLY if I lean forward at all. I have been told doing decline bench helps, I dunno. I have always had bigger boobs than most guys from twelvish till now (39).
