Got answer

Its a socket 478 P4 Northwood.
Costa Rica chips (I think) dont overclock great.
it runs at 20x100fsb
You might get 20x120fsb for 2400mhz..but not gaurenteed.
its useful for several things...depending on what you want to use it for..

Here let me take a crack at it....

It is a Northwood 2ghz chip with 20x multiplier and 100fsb (or 400 quad pumped system bus)....

Costa Rica chips do oc very well as my old 1.6a was from that time and it ripped out 2.74ghz with only 1.71v.....

The fab date was 25 week of 2002 or 3rd week of June meaning it likely had a packing date of July or early August...

Because of that late fab date and packing date I say it does at least 133fsb with no vcore adjustement to 1.7v max....Many were etting 1.8 and 1.6's of this time to 2.53-2.66 regularly if no up to 2.8 for the extremely lucky...

The key is to look at the sl66r code but I am sure it is a B0 stepping chip and I think the fab date bodes more info at this point...

I had a B0 2.0 that would do 133 FSB (2.66) @ stock Vcore.

Didn't try upping it as I was putting it in a friends system... But don't discredit the B0 stepping chips, they still OC nicely. Just not as nicely as the C1s and m-vids.

well, Costa Rica makes some good chips...like the SL6EF

but your's is a B0 stepping, so it probably won't overclock very well, but you never know...

there are many inexpensive 845PE mobos out there right now
the albatron, the abit BH-7 are some examples, both around 80 bucks

Make sure you get at least a newer i845d chipset or a pe chipset with agp/pci locking...If I am right wont it be nice to make that into a 2.66ghz at the gate and then get some at least good pc2700 stuff and run a 3:4 ratio for 354mhz ddr....

I think you could find many Asus, Albatron, and Epox mobos in the 845d and 845pe range for well under 100 bucks to around 60-70....new ofcourse...Sale forums could get you into a proven board (someoneelse tested) for 40 range!!!!

Remember the infamous 1.6a's with 1ghz overclocks (like mine!!!) was from this time frame....Mine had a pack date of 5/16/2002 so likely was fab at least 1 month before that and look what it did as a Costa Rica B0 stepping chip....

Wow, thank you for all the detailed responses🙂

I've had good luck with both Abit and Epox (running both on my 2 PC's right now), so I'll go that route.

Again, thanks all...this forum never ceases to amaze me...people helping people...now that rocks!!
