On saturday I got my 2.2 update for my Motorola droid. Did a fresh install and even use ATK. No matter what everything seems a little laggy now no matter what I do. Is this normal or is there something I can be doing to help this out?

Also I might have misunderstood but I thought this update was to include flash. I went to adobe and said it would be available later this summer?

don't use task killers with froyo...it makes it lag.

I'm running Froyo on my myTouch and its great. You might want to take a look at your installed apps. Sometimes apps need to be uninstalled and reinstalled with different builds.

And Flash is only available on certain phones. It has to be written for your specific phone.

First, get rid of ATK, its slowing the phone down and degrading your battery life. Second, Flash is going to come with the second Froyo update. The first update was FRG01B, the second should be FRG22B, which includes Flash.

Some users have reported some lagginess when they first get the upgrade which clears up after a day or so of use. Others have found that they've had some apps that weren't Froyo ready and were causing problems.

There is an Adobe Android Summit tomorrow, maybe they'll release it tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help. Ok should I skip the whole task killer app thing completely not just the ATK one? As for apps causing the problem even with a stock droid fresh format it is still noticeably lagging compared to pre froyo.

Yes, skip the task killer apps. I can't really comment on anything else though, I've been using 2.2 with custom roms for a couple of months now and I love it. This is on the droid.

ATK isn't gonna run down your battery unless you set it to auto kill every 1 minute or 5 minutes. If you kill everytime you turn your screen off that's ok... unless of course you're flipping your screen on and off 20 times an hour. But in that case, your display will eat far more power anyway.

ATK doesn't really help on auto settings. The reason Android gets laggy is because there's a minimum amount of RAM needed to keep the Droid speedy. The Droid already lacks in RAM. Anything below 40 MB is a little meh. If you use an app like Autokiller or whatever to mess with the MinFree, you can get Android to kill apps on its own to maintain a minimum level of memory. This keeps your system fast. I keep my phone at about 60 MB and it blazes through.

Also, let's remember the Droid at its stock 550mhz is nowhere near amazing. That coupled with its 2.2 launcher.

I stopped at the VZW store today to play with a Droid. I believe it's 2.1, but damn that launcher was slow as crap and all it had were a few shortcuts and the default widget. Sad.

Also have been noticing alot more apps are starting up on a reboot of the phone where as they didn't before the update. Would that be because the app is not fully compatible with 2.2?
